bfishn Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 I never knew there were gigging tournaments. Pretty big thing in OK, the Cherokee have been holding one on Eucha every April for about 40 years. I can't dance like I used to.
Quillback Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Pretty big thing in OK, the Cherokee have been holding one on Eucha every April for about 40 years. I wonder what they gig? I assume it's "trash" fish.
bfishn Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Mostly hog suckers, same reg as here, no game fish. I can't dance like I used to.
John Andrews Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 I am sure to be bashed for this comment but, I believe gigging should be outlawed. As far as I am aware, every fish out there can be caught by FISHING FOR THEM. My opinion of course. I will be keping an eye on these people also

bfishn Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 I've puzzled over that one a long time Justin, and reached a similar conclusion. At least the eaters have a legitimate reason to do what they do. I can't dance like I used to.

Hog Wally Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Uhh. It's wrong to break the law? Seriously??? I can't even believe there is any kind of man that is okay with poaching. I eat legally caught fish at least once a week. I don't eat smallmouth cause I'd rather eat something else. In fact I'm bored of catching them but I don't want somebody sticking a fork in their head when it's against the law. I too take a stand against all poaching If my local agents are on this forum they can attest to that. My name is Aaron click and have lived in the stclair area on the river since 80's
LarrySTL Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Darwin nailed this one ! Y'all gonna love this. Coming soon to a stream near you; Did I see a jet ski in that mess? Added High voltage, water, and hard liquor. Methinks the sport will regulate itself. Future iterations may involve burka-wearing Ninjas on jetskis or semisubmersibles, using the guise as giggers to infiltrate the river system to headwaters near Whiteman AFB, where they'll hijack some B2s... http://intervenehere.com
Feathers and Fins Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Ban something because of people who break the law! Ya that's the thing to do it works so well where its been implemented in other subjects. New regulations, New laws, New fines, Blah Blah Blah is NOT the solution we already have laws on the books to deal with Illegal activity. ENFORCEMENT of them and possibly tougher penalties are the solution but first you have to have the enforcers out there. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
