I am guilty of throwing my 2 cents in the ring. Not sure that this is the type of site that needs to add politics as a forum. Politics destroy everything that is good and this is a special site so....

I actually have another IPB forum license... I could create a completely different forum, set it up and never look at it (I wouldn't anyhow).

I'll think about it.

Should known you'd have to have a license. Who actually owns the internet anyway?

When you buy the forum software, IPB, you buy a license. It basically says you can only use it once. Then there's support you pay for every 6 months. Optional but worth it if you crash your forum or something. I bought 2 licenses years ago, thinking I'd start a hunting forum. I did but it didn't go. So I still have it.

then KS. And football -- which is actually fun to watch this year...

Well you can't close it now. I want to hear Ness describe the fun he has watching, what I assume, is hawks FB.

Chiefs, baby. Jayhawks are pitiful, and besides, I write checks to K-State now.

The problem with no holds barred political forums is that sooner or later it gets so nasty that people who would otherwise be friends become mortal cyber-enemies. I really like things as they are. Most of us show restraint, whether it's because showing restraint is a good thing to do or because there is the threat from Phil that a topic will be shut down if it gets too nasty and most of us don't want to give Phil the headache, if nothing else. I am active on the anything goes board on paddling.net, and it has mostly devolved into most of the threads being two or three people on one side continually attacking two or three people on the other side with little of real interest being discussed, and even if a thread starts out interesting, those same people turn it into an attack fest.

Although...if there was one board on here where anything goes, it might not be as much of a headache for Phil...

Al makes a good point in this post. I was just making a suggestion to get politics off this board. We live in a US that now brings politics to many discussions it would not have years ago. This is a great friendly site and one of the few where you can get some good answers to questions and learn a lot about the sport we all love. after all this is the internet and you don't have to tune in if you don't like the show. Just my two cents worth.

The other sites I go on have sub forum for political discussion.

Its 100% tea party folks so most on here wouldn't dare enter- they don't on the other sites either- they find... Well other sites where most are Liberals.

Political discussion, and trying to choke it down- especially on an outdoor forum- always going to be incredibly difficult to enforce. Especially when you have times like these where an administration instructs the Parks Departments to make life as hard as possible on the peasants- oops, I meant citizens.

Federal parks are closed for zero good reason, all locked up. Tight- the Fed is workking parks officials overtime to run. Around harrassing people for trying to access their own land- you think. Folks aren't going to talk about that?

Psssst- Jonathan Jarvis- You Tube... -good times- :) they should have gone much further than they did with that clown- he should be fired immediately.
