In a small canal oxbow near the town of Okeechobee (Buckhead ridge) I spotted a "half submerged tractor tire" and slung a buzzbait over it. Don't ever do that !!!! There are no tractors anywhere near Bulkhead ridge, and a startled 10 foot Florida gator that you've blocked his exit path is just about the scariest thing in North America.

He went under my boat in 3 ft. of water and I think I tasted my asshole, it was gross!

LSD is a bad thing.

And I thought two beavers swimming out from under the boat on the Bourb was spooky- (well darnitt it is when you don't even know they are in the area).. Yep- ummm- I'll pass on fishing real shllow water where gators "be"

Beavers! I can remember a couple of times night fishing when they quietly closed in and then slapped the tail. It's hard not to jump and for your heart to race when you don't expect something that loud and that close on the water.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Yeah my favorite bluegill honey hole has psycho beavers. The creeks where I grew up were lousy with beavers too, but they were shy, very mellow, and kinda cool to watch. The beavers down here have apparently been raised differently, they are pretty aggressive. Not sure what a beaver would (or could) do if he got hold of you because I haven't worked up the guts to stand my ground yet.

Talking about Florida and snakes, they don't need copperheads Jerry they have bigger and better except for the pigmy rattlers. I did a firepower demo in Florida many many moons ago and I was on a crew putting bombs together. We were working in a bomb bunker that had rows of bombs stacked up on 6" X 6" timbers and there were 1 or 2 pigmy rattlers under everyone. We never bothered them and they didn't seem to mind us. We cleared most of a row off in one instance and the snake just kept moving back under the remainder and then apparently moved during the night.

These tow beavers were acting bizzarre- but I think they may have been getting their schwagg on- so that might 'splain it. I was in my Lowe 1648 on the Bourb and I mean shallow water- I heard something slide under and so I look down with the polaroids and its two big beavers literally squeezing just barely between the boat and the gravel beneath- scared the be-jimminey. Out of me... Then I kind quickly looked around to make sure no one witnessed it.

Of all the river running/ creek walking I have ever done I can honestly say that NO snake has ever bothered me in the slightest. Of course I don't bother them either- but you would think as much as I have tromped around and all. Especially around the mineral fork and fourche ren- supposedly that is some kind of poisonous snake mecca.
