I see your point wrench but having lived with then for several years AND I MEAN LIVED WITH 24 hrs a day. slept below there landing area when we got to actually sleep down there. Most if the time we were catching naps on a steel deck between launches and recovery( a 90 minute cycle) I have seen that type thing go on for 3-4 days without a let up. You go to chow when you could on those days. That was the life on the old carriers. Now days they have enough crew to have shifts. WOW. How wonderful. for some reason though all that hard crap draws on you somehow as the years pass and I still love to see a war plane in the air.

The Spitfire and the Mustang were first cousins. They were responsible for getting the bombers in to Germany towards the end of the war and had a tremendous impact on the war.

The F-105 was the early workhorse in 'Nam and, I believe the first "wild weasel". USAF picked up the F-4 as the 105's went down. They could carry an especially high load of armament for a fighter/bomber at the time.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Love the P-51D. I believe it was the introduction of the Rolls Royce Merlin engine that made the P-51D such a great machine. Until then it didn't have the high altitude power to be used as a fighter aircraft.

Ness the first time I ever flew out of Cedar Lake in NW Ontario was in 1984 and we flew 30+ miles east to another lake at about 1,000 feet in a 1956 Beaver, The last time I flew was in 1999 in a 1956 Beaver I miss the flying more than the fishing. Spitfire was always my favorite fighter and B17 was my favorite bomber. I also was one of the first to see the stealth bomber running an Oak Grove turn out of Earth City had heard of them but never seen one before that day when it flew over me near Higginsville .....though it was Bat Plane ........took a lot of ribbing until pictures of them started showing up in the paper.

This one is a hard one. I love a good airshow. The Angels came to town a few years ago and you could not keep me away from the airport. I sit down there on the practice sessions and attended the show both days. Plenty of warbirds and of course the awesome raw power of the F18.

Yeah, back when the Blue Angels/Thunderbirds did airshows at Richards Gebaur, the week before they'd be practicing around where I work. Once saw one go pretty low, on edge, straight down 71 Hwy for a bit. Perty cool.

Never been in a Beaver, but I've always wanted to fly in to fish in one somewhere exotic. I think they're cool in part because there so dang well built.
