woodman Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 OK Guys I maxed out on building kayaks-Piroges-Canoes....Now I want to build a camper I don't have to pop up every time like we have done for the last 20 yrs... The 5x8 tractor supply trailer after all the unwanted steel was stripped off On my 5X10 I started I incorporated a really light weight retractable floor drop...Using left over 8 oz. Polyester fabric from a SOF Kayak.......The underside of the floor has 1 1/2'' X 2 1/2'' frame with 3/8'' Baltic Birch floor... The finished drop floor.. Pics. of the build progress...between cabinet jobs...kind of in my spare time... http://s147.photobucket.com/user/scrawford_photos/library/Woody%20Camp%20Trailer?sort=3&page=1 http://s147.photobucket.com/albums/r302/scrawford_photos/

jdmidwest Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Funny thing. I have an old popup camper that I want to strip down and do the same thing. I will be watching this thread. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
Ham Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Looks great! Any guesses on what your cost will be for this project? Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Gavin Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Good start...We got rig of our Coleman pop-up earlier this year...Traded it for a used Jayco 23B...easy to load up, need a vehicle that can tow 5000lbs...drop the canvas and its a 30' of space...fridge, freezer, toilet, an shower...Not bad. And no big deal to dump the honey bucket.
jdmidwest Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 In review of most of my camping in the past few years, it has been put up a tent, sleep, take down tent, move on. A teardrop seems like a good idea for me, and a little more protection from elements. Light and easy to tow. When I went to Alaska last time, there were several set up at the State Fair and I got the urge for one. woodman Posted December 5, 2013 Author Posted December 5, 2013 To rent a teardrop....This guy is a few miles from me.. South of Odessa just off 50 Hwy.. http://missouriteardroptrailers.com/index.html http://s147.photobucket.com/albums/r302/scrawford_photos/
Flysmallie Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 To rent a teardrop....This guy is a few miles from me.. South of Odessa just off 50 Hwy.. http://missouriteardroptrailers.com/index.html Well that was uncalled for. Sent me down a winding twisting road that my bank account can't cover at the moment. I've always wanted one of those little trailers. Can't wait to see what you come up with.
DaddyO Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Dangit! Why didn't I read Flysmallie's post first? I spent an hour looking at those trailers and dreaming. DaddyO We all make decisions; but, in the end, our decisions make us.
