Leonard Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 I'm so ticked off right now - you have to play aggressive defence in the NFL, the defence played prevent D the entire 2nd half, and anyone remotely knowledgeable about football knows that is a recipe for disaster. No blitzes, 4 man-rush, Luck had all day to pick apart the defence. I don't blame the players, the blame falls on the defensive coaching staff (and Reid) for a complete lack of aggressiveness and imagination. It's really sad to see a team do so well all year and then get screwed by numbskull coaching. GGrrrrrr..... Man you're really going be ticked off (can use other words)... If philly wins their game tonight with out Reid...LOL this is the only comment ... I should not gloat about Indy's awesome comeback to beat the Chiefs!~ http://www.taneycomonights.com
Terrierman Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Man that was tough to swallow. 28 point lead down the tubes.
Wayne SW/MO Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Well I guess I'm more realistic. Yes Indy scored a lot of points on the red defense, but the red offense scored a lot of points on the Indy defense. Of course Indy didn't lose the league leading running back for the entire game. Nor did they lose two Pro Bowlers. so over all i think they did one H--- of a job considering and I'll take it over the last few years anytime. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
ness Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 I just look at this and say 'how the heck did we lose it?' I don't think the injuries tell the story -- would we have scored a couple more touches with Charles, and Avery in there? Or prevented a couple more with Flowers? Maybe, but we did enough on offense: Alex Smith just muscled those points on the board. He was a stud tonight. Our downfall was the porous secondary, particularly against the hurry-up, which has been our Achille's heal this season. Oh, and a great QB in Luck. I've always been the first to jump D Bowe's arse, but he had a pretty dang good game. He turns that right foot in a shade on that last catch and we're likely moving on. But hey, he was off balance and getting a shove. Dang. John
Ham Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Boy, that was a tough loss to watch. It's hard as fans to understand all the stuff going into the decisions that were made. It is very posible that some of the defensive coaching choices were due to key players getting injured. I know it affected the offense. Davis really manned up UNTIL he got hurt too. That's good to see going into next year. The Chiefs had a lot of good stuff happen despite J.Charles getting hurt AND I get that injuries are part of the game, but sooo many injuries all in one game is hard thing to overcome in a one game do or die. Rest assured that the coaches really wanted to win and did the best they could to make that happen. I'm not so sure about the players caring about the game as much as fans do. Quillback Posted January 5, 2014 Author Posted January 5, 2014 Yep kudos to Bowe for a game well played. Even with the injuries, they scored 44 points. They should've won.
Quillback Posted January 5, 2014 Author Posted January 5, 2014 Yeah I liked what I saw from Knile Davis. I'm thinking the Chiefs need a pass catching TE, help in the defensive secondary, and a new Defensive coordinator that can get the most out of the defence. The talent is there. And it's hard for me to put too much blame on the secondary when there's no pressure on Luck. I can't even recall him getting knocked down in the 2nd half. let alone sacked.
Ham Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 They were so close so many times, but couldn't get there. I was telling my son how much they needed a Good TE. Bowe is almost that player. He's a BIG WR that maybe isn't the fastest in the league, but he'd be a very fast TE. There aren't a lot of Jimmy Grahams out there, but a top 15 TE would bail Alex Smith out 4 times a game and keep drives alive. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. KCRIVERRAT Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 I like the idea of Bowe being a TE Ham. Would probably have to work with him on blocking bigger guys in the running game. He's a good blocking WR against the smaller DB's he faces. HUMAN RELATIONS MANAGER @ OZARK FISHING EXPEDITIONS
Wayne SW/MO Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 I think their TE's can catch the ball, but they are slow and I believe that is why they don't utilize them more. Injuries in the OL have also kept them blocking. I just can't knock the Chiefs, all of this BS about how many points Indy scored overlooks how many a crippled Chiefs scored. At least they were in the playoffs and a one point win doesn't make Indy a super team like the eastern talking heads would have one believe. Did I ever mention Boomer Sooner?
