Bluff-Bassin Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 I'm going to be moving with in an hour drive of both lakes this coming year for work. I've fished both a couple of times and had decent results on both lakes, but I find reading the threads most people seem to like table rock better? You hardcore bass guys that fish both, is the bass fishing on table rock that much better than on bull shoals? Just curious to hear your opinion and the reasoning why?
Quillback Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 Bull supposedly fishes better than TR, but I have never fished Bull. Maybe this spring.
Ham Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 No. TR gets a lot more pressure and a lot more ppl talk about it. Better PR corps. I do think I catch bigger fish at TR, but a LOT less of them. I like Bull a lot better, but on any given day TR may be better. Norfork has fished better than Bull Shoals several times recently due to water levels etc. Fish them both, they're both good. Bull is better though. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Wayne SW/MO Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 I agree with Ham that TR gets a lot more attention. It goes back to things that had nothing to do with fishing however. TR was easier to access from a highway standpoint, eventually had Branson's uniqueness to help it along and eventually it just had more facilities. They are both White river reservoirs with much the same structure and fish populations. It will depend a lot on which will be easier to access from your location. TR is pretty busy in some areas in the summer. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Bluff-Bassin Posted January 12, 2014 Author Posted January 12, 2014 Thanks for the replies. I was thinking that it could just be do to the larger population of branson. I'm actually kind of glad to hear there are some guys that prefer Bull Shoals as I'm going to probably end up a little closer to it near the theodosia arm
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 I dive them both and the fish attractors the conservation puts out are 3 times the size on bull, but there is less natural structure.
Jerry Rapp Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 I dive them both and the fish attractors the conservation puts out are 3 times the size on bull, but there is less natural structure. aarchdale - what is your unofficial overall fish population comparison of the two lakes?
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 More flathead in the rock way more smallies in Bull, Rarely go down in either one with out seeing a half dozen 5Lb bass. they are curious and follow you around when your diving. Kinda makes me sick to think every time i throw a lure in, bass see it, just have to convince them to eat it.
Nitroman Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Want to see a lot of " JET SKI'S & BIG BOAT'S & THE MORONS THAT OPERATE THEM " then THE ROCK is for you. If the weather is nice the " MORONS " will still be out in December. Want a nice quiet day when you may see a dozen boat's or so & pretty much all fishing. THE BULL is for you.2 Both lakes hold good fish, Table Rock has more visible natural cover to fish if that is important to you. Bull Shoals is deeper & clearer overall & is prone to more extreme water level changes. If you called & said let's go fishing, where should we go, for the best possible overall experience we would be on Bull Shoals.
