His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. Dutch Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 I have found over the years that you normally can't catch the other guy's fish. Just because he tells you the spot doesn't mean you can catch them unless he also gives you more info. Personally, spots don't really interest me. However, patterns do. I can find my own spots but sometimes a hint on a pattern makes the difference between a good outing and a water haul.
Wayne SW/MO Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 I think it depends. In Phil's case the size of the lake at Branson versus the number of fishermen hardly allows for any untouched waters. In the spring there are some white bass areas that are so universally known and reported on that it doesn't matter. The same can be said of some crappie areas in the spring, but the crappie areas often required pinpointing and that's different case. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Feathers and Fins Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Here is something to ponder, You have this Magical spot do your really think with the technology today with maps, gps, and so many forums people wont find it? I just wrote about bass fishing on Beaver lake and how I watched the "Meat" fishermen, I used Binoculars to do it, one of the oldest time proven and tested methods of seeing how and where people are catching fish. Do you really think there is a "Secret Spot on any lake" Now in the Ocean yes I would never reveal my GPS numbers in a million years! In fact I wouldn't allow people to bring phones that had GPS on them and actually checked to be sure they had no GPS devise on them and so dis and do many charter boats, those numbers are sacred. But on a man made impoundment no matter how big it is it wont take a angler who really wants to know whats happening long to find out and you may never know he is doing it. No secret spots. Patterns are the key and that includes depth, structure, forage and all things being equal it can be repeated on similar area around the lake. Truth is as I said though before " An Angler is his own worse enemy getting in Habits he wont break" https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Quillback Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 I don't have any secret spots, I just follow the herd and try and catch the ones they leave behind.

Quillback Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Arnt you suppose to be the Guiding light for Champ lol. HAHA, trust me, it's the other way around. I'm hoping in that maybe in another 20 years of bass fishing that I'll have the knowledge that he does.

Old plug Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 When i was new to living out here someone on this forum told me " they are where you find them " I agree. And i do nit ask him today. The right spot, the right technique and the right time is something you spend time finding out. So I feel no compulsion to share it. Though I might share with him now and then. Even though he doe not need it. .
