dblades Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 It was a warm drizzly Sunday afternoon in late March of 94. I'd only been out of the AF a few months. I remember the lake was high and muddy, but Dad and I decided to get a few hours in anyway. We found a cove in the White River that had enough run off coming in that it was still fairly clear. Was fishing a red shad worm, and started to pick up a few fish and we started into the cove. I flipped up beside a big rock I could see in the water and saw a good size fish flash on it. I keep pitching it in and seeing the fish flash. After about 6-8 flips she finally nailed it. 9 pounds, 9 ounces of Table Rock Largemouth. We ended up catching probably fifty fish out of that cove, but nothing of any real size other than that big female. Still haven't gotten a 10 pounder, even after years of fishing in Florida , Louisiana, Fork etc. Best thing about that catch was having my Dad along.
*T* Posted January 15, 2014 Author Posted January 15, 2014 On Table Rock, had two 4-15oz (spinner bait) and two 4-6oz (spook) as my best on spotted bass. And just cant break the 4lb ceiling on SM. Had 3 or 4 that went 3-15 (jigs & grubs). TRock LM, just 6-15 (#8 ShadRap) for me. Meanmouth in 3-1/4# range and Walleye never hit 20" mark. arsenal1477 Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 5.8 LM on Ned Rig- Watermelon Red Zinker Z-Dusk 4.9 SM on Craw- Gene Larews Chart-Day 4.2 KY on Jig- Chompers Skirted Twin Tail Grub/ Football Head Jig-Day Numerous bass in those ranges down to just barely keeper size, but can never catch the big boys like you guys.
inshore Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 march 1991 slow rolling 1oz white spinnerbait. had 4 bites caught all 4 total weight 32 pounds and 7 oz. onle bites I had. caught one in little fisher creek one in next cove north one off the point at whites branch and one in whites branch. as far as bass never had a day like it before or since.
