dtrs5kprs Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Mentioned I would post a pic of this animal when it arrived. Looks very similar to a wart in body size, shape/contour, lip design/angle. For the $13 price, you still have a shot at picking up an old wiggle wart, especially a used or "painter" color. But this little guy might be an option as that situation gets worse. Related: Did anyone else see the SP90 wart that sold for $160 on ebay the other day? Put some rocks in your pockets and tie the small dogs down really well. It's bound to get better in about April/May.
dtrs5kprs Posted January 16, 2014 Author Posted January 16, 2014 Of all the attempts to memorex the wart, this is about the closest I have seen, aside from the few obvious changes. Sitting here messing with it now while doing pharmacy CE to see if I can get the hooks to tangle as they will on a wart. So far no, and have only impaled myself about six times. Good sharp hooks... Only things not thrilled by (except the price) are the color selection (can be fixed), and the fact mine came in the correctly marked box (phantom green) but is actually the copper root beer. Grrr. But also fixable.
dtrs5kprs Posted January 16, 2014 Author Posted January 16, 2014 Oh...and you would think Rapala would get a clue at some point.
motoman Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Thanks for posting that Dave; that's a great looking bait; be sure and keep us posted on any results!:-)
Quillback Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Oh...and you would think Rapala would get a clue at some point. Yeah I agree.
Mitch f Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 They know it. I was hired to scan all of the original storm wiggle wart molds thru a vendor. I'm under NDA contract so mums the word. But I can tell you they are trying to improve it. I noticed the Lucky Strike Wart Hog knock off has a much different action than the wart. I'm looking forward to see if this new Live Target bait has the same hunting, re centering action as the old wart. FWIW, you can take a file and sharpen the lip to produce a hunting action on the new rapala Warts "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
Hughesy Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Here's another option. At $4.29 works for me. It seems to work better and go deeper at a moderate retrieve as opposed to burning it. Very wart like. The crazy bug
