bfishn Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 A guy i know that fishes Bull a ton said they are going to make it a Striper fishery, I know its a big rumor/debate, is there any truth behind it. I didnt believe because i figured i would have read about it on here. Just ?????? not looking for a debate on why or why not they should be stocked It was hashed in the TR forum, you just missed it; I can't dance like I used to.
Wayne SW/MO Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Truman's reputation has survived stripers and LOZ hybrids. Texoma is still a destination and stripers were put in there in the 70's. If anything BS will improve eventually. It won't hurt the bank accounts of many who live in the shadow of Table Rock and silver Dollar City if the big fish draws in a few more visitors either. The trout fishing emergency below BS dam will likely pretty much take a chunk of money out Forsyth and the stripers have the potential to put it back several fold. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Ham Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 AGFC has usually stocked 30,000 in Jimmy Creek in March. The Rainbowa don't all stay there as I caught one on a crappie jig way up in the Gooley Creek. I've also caught them 7 miles away from the lake up Beaver Creek. I believe there are trout all through the lower story of the lake. I caught a 4+ pound rainbow while trolling at 30 feet between Bear Creek and Tucker Hollow, in May. And a brown about the same size at K Dock in November...
Fish24/7 Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 a few years ago I was fishing with mixermarkb in his boat near Oakland and caught a personal best 30" bow on a gitzit
Greasy B Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 a few years ago I was fishing with mixermarkb in his boat near Oakland and caught a personal best 30" bow on a gitzit 30" wow, that must have been a beautiful fish. Wayne SW/MO Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 I suppose when you think about AR stocking and Powersite overflow it's easy to imagine a lot of bows entering the lake and finding significant springs to summer in. There's always a population in the Pothole and i moves down to at least Silver creek in good numbers. I caught one in Beaver creek up in the 160 area and that's probably a long way from any entering point. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
mojorig Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Rainbow trout have been stocked since the early 80's in Bull Shoals. They used to be stocked at higher number but interest in fishing for them has decreased in the last 10 or so years especially after the area at the dam was closed to fishing. Currently, all the trout stocked in the lake are raised by some of the area docks on Bull Shoals.
