Side Imaging Fish Finder

Just hoping to get some advise from you guys/gals what a good brand/model of side imaging fish finder is. I've never owned or used one before and don't know too much about them. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

You can buy the Humminbirds for close out pricing right now. I don't imagine that will last much longer since income tax time is right around the corner.

i think most brands are pretty good, i would go more with price instead of maker, just my opinion.

i was at bass pro today and there is a big sale coming soon, keep an eye out for all the spring

sales soon to be happening. google is a good source to find reviews along with most sellers

I love my 'bird. You won't regret stepping up to SI technology; sure cuts down on time spent hauling water.

There are a couple of on line Marine dealers that will beat anything BPS or Cabelas has to offer. I saved several hundred on an hds 8 and lss box buying that way.

As far as customer service, Humminbird has always been head and shoulders above Lowrance - maybe that's changed lately.

I don't seem to hear as much about Lowrance having poor customer support like a few years ago. Hopefully that got a handle on that situation. I'm a Humminbird guy myself anyways so it doesn't matter to me.

Lets say a guy on a budget in the 500 to 600 or so range. What would you say would be the best for the money?

I have always been a Lowrance guy but they were having problems when I took the plunge into SI. For me the bird is less complicated, but not as good of image. I splurged and bought the 798 figured that would be the only one I would ever need. Unfortunately my wife and I liked it so well we added the 1198 a month later. Do not think you will go wrong with either brand, think you can find a 598 in your price range. The SI under those docks at LOZ.... good stuff.
