Quillback Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Here's the link to Pete's website, you can see his report there also. He usually posts a new one every Wednesday night. http://www.hookedonbass.com/
97procraft Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 I only get down to the rock once or twice a year, so I depend on reports that I find. I found Pete's site last year and he was spot on with what the fish were doing. It was one of the very few times I was able to get a report and go and duplicate it on the water. I just found Eric's videos a few weeks ago and bookmarked them also. I will be using both for when I come down next month and also in May. I will post a report when I am done. Hope it will help anyone.
Bill Babler Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 A couple of things on these Video reports, regardless how well done they are and what they appear to be. It is real easy for me to sit here and do a video, without ever being on the water and just using seasonal patterns and talking about what should be happening weather it is on not. Not saying these are false or untrue or not good videos that you find on the internet, including what is on the forum here today, but by following this forum you know what is working and what is not. You should be able to see something that is immediately suspect. A few years ago, this forum was just flooded with fishing reports that were just being pasted on every fishing and advertising site on the net. We put in a cav'ot that the reports had to be current with in the last day or two. Had to be first hand information either by the person that was making the report actually being on the water and reporting his or her success or failure. Or, first hand knowledge listing the person or persons that supplied that information and the area they fished. Kind of stopped the cut and paste guys, as they were for the most part just making this C--- up based on seasonal patterns, and not being on the water, as lots of them work jobs. I have no problem with guys posting seasonal patterns, but they are not current fishing reports and should be called as such. They are very helpful, but not Current Fishing Reports of any date that is listed. Sometimes its easy to look at the video if there are pictures, and see if it is current if you know the lake water levels. Pretty easy to fake if you don't. What I'm saying is be careful what basket you put your eggs in and believe about 1/2 of what you read or see. If there is money or motive involved it changes the game of truth or consequences, and its up to you as a Buyer to Beware. Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Old plug Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Mr babler I do not know what the value is in fishing reports to begin with. Condition and patterns can change in hours not days. This forum is a good place to share experiences, tip, and general things more so than reports. Just a few days ago I got a tip that is going to prove very valuable There was a big discussion about the Spro bait. There was a lot of nice discussions. But for all that ,the only thing really stuck with me was two words SINKS SLOWLY. I had about given up on swim baits. All the soft ones tend to go down like a rock and have to be worked faster. Also most soft swim baits got single hooks and I am certain from the number of ripped up swim baits two trebles would be much better. I just assumed the hard jointed ones sank like a rock also. I did not know some were designed to sink slowly. So had a few PM and I decided this Spro bait will be the ticket to the presentation that I want to make at the times I think I need it. I do not depend on reports. You got to get out there and take the knowledge you receive here and turn it into experience. That can only come from fishing not being upset and wondering whats wrong with you because they are not biting like they are suppose to.

I have found Pete's reports to be good, and he will say when, or if, he has been out in the past week. And he also shares some good tips on how to rig and use certain baits. I have learned quite a bit from him. As for his reports, I think he's usually pretty close on what's happening out there. He'll tell you when it's tough, and doesn't get too excited when it's good. I found Eric's report to be self-promoting and not very accurate. Not sure where he has been fishin lately, but he makes it sound like fishin is great right now on the Rock? My personal experience, and that of many guys who are a lot better than me, is that this Winter has pretty much sucked so far! Can't remember struggling like this to find and catch Winter fish.

You can say that if you wish, that is your opinion. I was not picking on anyone, just saying that this is a means of advertisement, and is pretty much advertisement to promote goods and services, and should be viewed as such 100%. This is not a bunch of us here talking and showing pictures of our everyday fishing follies. Pete is extremely accurate, and I would read his report and go fishing without even looking if the sun was shining or not. He is out there most everyday that the weather permits, he is a full time fishing guide. That's pretty much all I have to say about that. This stuff is really just like a Wendy's commercial without the Gorgeous Redhead. Even if you don't like what she is selling, Wendy's has something else on the menu that you will probably like. It is a sales Pitch, treat them as such. Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Old plug Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Like i said on the post that did hot go through. Maybe Eric is not promoting himself but is connected to the tourism machine in some way.
