eyedabassman Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 I did hear of some about 20 in. is that too good too be true???
Quillback Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 That would be a big one! I picked up a 15" crappie a couple of winters ago on a jerk bait while fishing for bass.
Champ188 Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 A 20-inch crappie is in the 4-pound class. Ain't a lot of those around here.
Dutch Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 I had a 15" one day in the James. I was feeling pretty good until my b-i-l caught a 16 and a 17. I've never seen any bigger but I rarely crappie fish on the rock.
jmes Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 My biggest is 18.25 caught him during a night tourament 2 years ago. Measured him but I didn't weigh gave him a big kiss and let go.I haven't got bigger that 14.5 since
countryred Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Probably only 10" for me, but I haven't fished there much. Now at Bull Shoals I know there are some monster crappie. I caught an 18" one there and seen several dandies. The look like black hub caps in those bushes.
abkeenan Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Biggest I saw was one of our neighbors down at TR caught one a little over 17". Thing was frickin' huge. I can't even imagine a 20" crappie. Caught it in early April in Long Creek just past the state line.
Bill Babler Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Did they not just have a couple of huge crappie caught last year that were weighed in at Cape Fair? Seems I remember something about it. I have fished Table Rock, Lake O. Truman, and Toledo Bend for Crappie, and I have never seen an 18 incher, let along 20 inch. Two claims on the biggest White Crappie- One last year from Reed Springs Mo. in a private pond of 5.2 the other claim is 4.9 The Reed Spring fish was measured at 18.5 inches. All information is really vague. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Guest Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Here is a link to a picture of a 20" crappie...from southern IL. World record was 21.5" apparently. http://www.prairiestateoutdoors.com/fishing/article/jimmy_whites_4_lb_crappie
