abkeenan Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 This was curiously timely. From the Bass Fishing Archives, a great place to lose three hours in an eye blink. http://bassfishingarchives.com/short-strikes/spy-baiting-hot-technique-for-the-1950s#comments Makes some sense. There is a lot of collecting and studying of old USA baits going on in Japan. Tweaking and sometimes improving. Good read there Dave. So when is the reinvented helicopter lure going to make another round? Its been almost 20 years since its introduction and should be the next big thing again soon. Can't wait to get duped again! Although it is hard to improve on perfection so I don't see how it can be done.

The helicopter was out when I was living up north. Stupid thing actually worked in the same places we now throw horny toads, buzz frogs, etc., over matted or sparse grass. Different design, same concept. Would guess it was more or less uselsess south of I-70.

When I worked at Cabela's in KC a fellow employee I worked with in the fishing department swore by that stupid Helicopter lure. He had lots of pictures of him with nice fish he'd caught on them. Not sure if he actually caught them on it or if he put it in their mouths after he caught them on something else though.

Every fish I catch I will just throw a pink helicopter lure in there mouth and snap a pic.

I'll be sure to check out your fish pic's to make sure the pink helicopter is in there. Ha Ha Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
bluebasser86 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Well the thing catches fish. I didn't fish it a lot because we were on them really good with a home made bladed jig of mine but I still managed to catch a couple largemouth and smallmouth.
Champ188 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 What color(s) were you using? I just ordered a couple of them in Ghost M Shad and Lucid Wakasagi.
dtrs5kprs Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Nicely done Blue. Champ...I'm sure they were the colors you didn't order .
Champ188 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Oh, you know that's right dtrs5kprs. Always the case. Heck, I could order one of every color and someone would knock them dead on a custom paintjob.
mjk86 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Blue....Im guessing you just cost most of the folks on here at least another 30$. Im sure everyones wives really appreciate that.
