J-Doc Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 This is "split squeezins" View from bottom side of hull When your hull has a split that's allowing water to squeeze in little by little. Luckily, I used West Marine's fiberglass epoxy repair products which is as strong as steel (modulas of elasticity = 36,000psi). Which simply means it takes 36,000 pounds per square inch to make the epoxy resin and fiberglass mix to pull apart beyond it's limits. View from top side of hull: Here is a view of the fine woven glass layers (3 layers min) laid over the "peanut butter" fill (poly-fill with resin mix) I have an "after" view from bottom side somewhere. It basically shows a 3/4" wide fill of epoxy resin & poly-fill mix which hardened in about 15mins. I have beat this boat to death in choppy water last summer. I drive it fast and hard on choppy water unless it's unsafe and then I slow down. I had to remind myself, "she's 35yrs old....take it easy on her" several times. To this date, the repair has held up. I honestly think my repair is the single strongest part of the boat now. Simply put...........I believe in West Marine's system. It's bad stuff!!! Need marine repair? bfishn Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Bunch of danged city slickers... :-) spilt (not split) = spilled squeezins == corn squeezins == moonshine translates to; "Sure it was water and not spilled moonshine?" Mo' better? I can't dance like I used to.
J-Doc Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 OOOoooohhhhhhhh.................................................. My bad. Well I think mine could still qualify as "split squeezins" LOL! kjackson Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 From experience...it could be a faulty drain plug or the area around the drain itself. It's worth a quick check. Neither is a difficult fix.
J-Doc Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Or aerator intske. I had mine crack on me in winter waters. It was old and needed replacing. As wrench said "plumbing". Faulty plug is a possible cause as well. Brass screw type or rubber friction plug? Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! David Unnerstall Posted February 14, 2014 Author Posted February 14, 2014 OK I will take it out on the water by myself with a lot of portable light and my dentist's mirror and do a some investigating. That is once the weather breaks and I can get it out of my mother's garage. I don't live in my mother's basement but my boat stays in my mother's garage -- I wonder what that means.

J-Doc Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Mine is in my mother-IN-LAWS garage. I don't care if she does scrape ice every morning! Hahaha!! She doesn't by the way. But it's the thought that counts. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks.
