Chief Grey Bear Posted February 19, 2014 Author Posted February 19, 2014 Maybe the reason all those others go away is concerned citizens act upon them and thus it dies brefore it can gain momentum. Or it could just be the websites you are associated with. But just because they are keeping you advised of the latest political happenings as they relate to conservation, doesn't mean dire consequences are imminent. Although this case is different. If this makes it to a vote of the citizen, its a sure bet it will be worded in such a way nobody will have a idea of what they just voted for. http://www.newstribune.com/news/2014/feb/16/driftwood-outdoors-potential-disaster/ Here is a good read from Brandon. I don't know of one conservation organization that is for this bill. All of them have offically come out against it. Except the MSA. I haven't heard a peep from them. ness Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Aren't you a specially invited member of MSA? Why not bring it up with them? John
fishinwrench Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 As a representative or senator, which would be more likely to sway you; A large number of correspondence opposing a bill with only the words "please don't do it" ? Or... Long winded articles written by self proclaimed intellectuals describing reasons why they shouldn't ? And....Do you really think anyone with the capacity to decide anything reads such correspondence either way?
ness Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 or anything coming from a current/potential campaign donor? John
Old plug Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 That amendment they want to pass requires a 2/3 majority vote I believe and it must also be voted on by the citizens of the state. But to me it is a very bad bill. The legislative branch will have a awful lot of control over the executive branch with this thing it would appear to me.

Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted February 25, 2014 Root Admin Posted February 25, 2014 I edited the title of this tread... hope you don't mind, Chief. I never looked at it. I've been advised, and I think it's a good idea, to contact OA members and ask them to write, email or call this state reps and ask them to EXEMPT MDC from this rule. That should take all question of who's right and wrong about how this would affect MDC in any way. We should do it today because time is running out.

Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted February 25, 2014 Root Admin Posted February 25, 2014 Evidently, it's supposed to be voted on in this afternoon's session- after 4 pm. And it is expected to PASS. But before they vote on it, amendments can be offered. EXEMPT MDC!
