Old plug Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 there are brow. pelicans also i think we had a few of them last yr also
Feathers and Fins Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Beaver has had a few Pelicans on it most of this winter. It also has Oldsquaw and Surf scoters on it right now. The Great Lakes are 80%+ frozen over and there are lots of interesting things down right now I even saw a Snowy Owl the other day. Global warming my rear end. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
kjackson Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Scoters? Hmmm...I may have to rethink my attack on puddlers for next year. Scoters make such a lovely splash when they hit the water with a load of #4s.
Feathers and Fins Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Yes sir verified by bioligist... If the GL freeze next year I will be looking for them, J-doc got to see a flock of Seacoots himself get up saturday morning. All i could think about was my taxidermist bill lol https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
kjackson Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Yeah, I figured they were not the usual run of migrants. They are fun birds, and the breast fillet is close to that of a small goose. But first I have to get with the duckhunting program in general. That is high on the list for this year.
Wayne SW/MO Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Funny. Between my house and Forsyth is a bout a mile of lakeside Taney. On a trip to Forsyth last year there were literally hundreds of pelicans near the road, some within 50 yards. I hurried home, got my camera, made mile trip back to where they started and they were all on the other side of the lake! Couldn't believe it. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Champ188 Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Grand is covered with pelicans at times. Seems like I've seen them there year-round. If not, definitely seen tons of them in fall and winter.
Old plug Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 champ do you see any brown ons over there i think they come in the spring if i remember correctly.
