Quillback Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 The Plano line of crank bait organizers are pretty sweet. Not as tough as those Bait Coffins, but good value for the money.
Skeeter ZX190 Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 Ok. Now I'm really confused. I guess my question is, when was the date change between the "old wart" and the "new wart". I have a friend who bought a bunch of warts back in the mid 80's. Would these be old, or new?. Rapala currently makes the wart. Bill or Dave Storm's company invented it. Rapala bought him out. He made some sort of deal with Brad's before he made the deal with Rapala. Some years after Rapala bought his company, his son brought out Dave's KaBoom. For a while they had a wiggle wart look alike but now they don't. Probably a story there.

dtrs5kprs Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Pics of the Bait Coffin. Don't they look cute peeking out of there? Think I will run a cable tie or some paracord type cord through the "lock" holes to make a loop handle. When it is wet it is a pain to get out of a hatch.

What size and brand of replacement trebles do you use? "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
dtrs5kprs Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Mitch...I have used #6 gamakatsu trebles for close to 15 years. Both round and EWG. Some will think those too small, but they have been good to me. Stock was odd, like a #5. Those are a bear to find.
Guest Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Same here, I like the gammy #6s They make a short shank round bend that I like as the belly hook. It's called the RBME or round bend magic eye. You will have to give them a try. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Gamakatsu_Magic_Eye_Short_Shank_Round_Bend_Treble_Hook/descpage-GSSTH.html
MOsmallies Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Bait coffin full of warts looks sweet dtrs5kprs! Mitch - I started replacing my wart hooks with the KVD Mustad trebles (Like most of my hard baits). Size 4 on the belly and size 6 for the tail. I was also considering the Owner ST-36's in Size 5. There was actually a thread a few months back on Wiggle Wart replacement hooks... rucker 1
