Travis Swift Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 one last question. do they just completely quit biting the wart after early spring? do they ever bite it in the late spring or summer?
Mitch f Posted April 17, 2014 Author Posted April 17, 2014 so this is a silly question but i stopped by a tackle store here in kansas yesterday and the guy showed me the Luck E Strike G5 which looked just like a wart. He said they are made to be like the old wart including the duller sound. They were basically sold out on all but one of them. So before i go to buying some what are your guys opinons on them? Travis, they are baits with great action but the initial lures had quality issues and would break and leak very easily. They were supposed to have fixed the issues but I haven't seen any of the new ones yet......maybe the new ones are out now, I don't really know. It's possible the ones you are seeing are the old stock. As far as the season: spring is best but I have used them in the summer in the river during very murky water conditions and have really whacked em.To me the perfect water temp for them is around 48-52 degrees. fishingaddiction Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Dave I stand corrected on the weight of your gear, the Ranger is still quite peppy. I get your drift on your past life as a bass club president, your current fishing status would be much less time consuming. Rob: Nice looking baits, fish catchers they are with all of those teeth marks on them. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
Guest Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Can work in fall/winter as well. My best stringer of smallmouth came out of Tenkiller in November 2011. I caught 5 smallies over 18" -20" in less than 30min. It's a situational bait, but when it's right there's nothing than can touch it. My buddy uses a "red belly" in May at Beaver during the post spawn/early summer. He catches tubby largemouth & Kentuckies gorging on crawfish along the bluff ends. The flatheads can't help themselves either.
Members Rob Shaw Posted April 18, 2014 Members Posted April 18, 2014 I have a pretty decent collection of old Warts that rarely get used. Ive lived in Hampton Roads, Va for the past 30+ years and I just cannot get bit on these on the Potomac, James, Chickahominy, Gaston, Kerr (Buggs Island), Albemarle Sound rivers in Carolina, etc. On the rare occasions that I bring my boat back with me to Springfield (my hometown), I break em out and they never disappoint. I rode with 3 different pro's during the Elite tournament on Table Rock and none of them, with the exception of Randall Tharp, threw a Wart. But he only threw it about 5 times, and I felt it was the wrong color.

Are your service days behind you?
vacation Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 My collection of old warts, some custom painted by a fellow forum member. They ROCK!!
huntest Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 Haven't heard much in the last few days about the Wart bite.....is it still on?
balsabee Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Here's another source for blank warts. Claims to be made from an original suspend wart. They look good! Great price and worth trying in my opinion. http://www.predatorbassbaits.com/id69.html
