Quillback Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 I saw the reports from yesterday, and the fishing was completely different today. The fish bit good from when I started at 7 AM until I left at 2 PM. There were some dry spells of course, but I caught 15 or so with a good percentage of keepers, no bigguns, but some solid 2.5 lb. fish. Also caught a 18" smallie, first one I've caught since December. Fish were a bit shallower today, 10-15 feet, some were back in coves around timber, others on rocky secondary points. Did get a few out of 20 FOW, but most were in that 10 foot range. Green pumpkin tube, t-rigged with 3/8 oz weight. Tried a Wart, jerk bait, and a Ned rig for a bit, but no luck on that stuff. Water temp wasn't any warmer than Friday, 42-44, but the fish were acting like it was spring. Sunny, breezy weather was the key I guess.
Champ188 Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Good day. Good report. Good news for all. As the old golf announcer Peter Alyss liked to say on Sunday afternoons of a hotly contested major ... things are starting to bubble.
dtrs5kprs Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Brown fish make me happier than I should be. Don't give up on that little rig .
Quillback Posted March 10, 2014 Author Posted March 10, 2014 I would've fished the Ned more, just got pretty windy and I couldn't feel bottom with it.

Jerry Rapp Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 you guys are missing out on the buzz bait bite.
Bill Babler Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 I'm beginning to think that I did not make an adjustment to shallow up enough on Sunday. Quill glad you caught them on our Holly water. 2 more to add to those would have gotten you a very nice payday on Sunday. I just hate the shoreline. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
fishingaddiction Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Nice catching. Good to know a little warm weather goes a long way to pull some fish up out of the deep. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.

Come on in to the skinny water, we'll make room for you. When we're done fishin, we'll pull out boats up on the bank, build a campfire, join hands and sing Kum Ba Yah.
