buckcreekmike Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 I say it's too bad you weren't I a tourney to cash a check on those days, unless you did. Champ, I personally think having a command of the English language is something to be proud of, not browbeaten for. My mom is an English teacher and I know she would appreciate it. I also realize that with the autocorrect feature on some of these devices it doesn't always end up the way that the poster was trying to convey. I like your articulate posts and as incredulous as you (not necessarily you) may be, I guess there is the is a chance that someone is tearing them up when you're not. It seems to be the case every time I go out. That's why I don't fish tourneys!
jmes Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 I guess there is the is a chance that someone is tearing them up when you're not. It seems to be the case every time I go out. That's why I don't fish tourneys! That"s what I love about this forum there is always someone catching them. I for one love tournaments. I have learned and witnessed that regardless of the weather, temp, barometer, etc there is always someone catching them. With the help of this Forum and other things I have become a 100% better and I still have along was to go. It is amazing to me how it seem effortless for some while others struggle ( that"s me ). But with the great people on here that contribute no matter how good you are it usually help that other person that what you wrote is exactly what they were looking for.
Quillback Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Cody I'm in the same boat as you. I moved here not too long ago and have only been fishing here a year and fish the Cape Fair tournaments with my dad whenever we get the chance. I'm on here about everyday but don't really contribute much...which I probably should start doing considering I get to Table Rock at least 3 times a week now. But thanks to all the great posts on here for being so informative and specific about things. I'm sure without this board I'd have caught at least half the amount of fish I have by now. Heck yeah, Tse, if you're out there 3 days a week, I'm sure you could contribute some good info.

Donna G Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 No derby series for me this year, Thumbs. Started a new job last September after 35 years as a newspaper writer/editor, and even though our vacation policy is very liberal, I don't want to make myself too scarce right out of the gate. Besides, I got a little weary of drawing the occasional intolerable backseater while worrying at the same time about Donna being safe with whatever boater she's paired with. I don't know if it's me getting older and pickier, but there seems to be a bigger percentage of folks that I'm not comfortable with her spending the day with. She flat knows her way around a boat and can take care of herself as well as any man, but some things are beyond your control as a nonboater ... i.e. when to get out of the lightning, when to slow the hell down and arrive safely, etc. So, all that to say ... we're fishing the Everett team derbies on Beaver and just gonna jackpot whatever else (teamwise) strikes our fancy. That's not at all to say I'm done with the pro-am style tournaments. Next time a Bassmaster Open or FLW Everstart comes to Table Rock, I'm all in. Otherwise, I'm fishing with my pards, to whom I've been married 20 years tomorrow (April 2). Anyone who gets a chance, please congratulate her on making it 20 years without killing me. Awww. Doesn't Champ say the sweetest things? Truth is, I'd rather fish with him than anyone else. I enjoyed the experience of fishing no-boater in Central Pro-Am and BFL. I even fished the FLW at Beaver one year. A real blast, but rather be fishing with my man. Most of my draws were good guys, but not always on the fish. That makes for a long day. I've had one or two that I wouldn't care to get in a boat with again, but that was rare. I'm looking forward to May on Beaver in the Everett series. Who's taking bets on 25 years without whacking him? lol Couldn't do without him, so there's no money to be made on that bet. Love you, darling. Donna Gilzow Bella Vista, Arkansas The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope. --John Buchan, 1915
