Jerry Rapp Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 and all of this gentlemen, is why I haven't even got a fishing permit this year. For some reason the last few years all the above has been common place, even on little private lakes. I have started golfing again, tee off at 9 a.m, after a peaceful morning of not getting up at oh dark thirty, play 27 holes, with a lunch break after 18 holes. Win a buck or two, lose a buck or two, outside, competition, if you win you brag, if you lose, you the buy the winners a beer. Home by 3 pm, relax, then watch a ball game on the tube in the evening.
J-Doc Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 I would be lucky to simply putt after 27 holes!! Lol!! I can barely make 18.these says. My swing is "mush" after about hole 14-15. Feathers and Fins Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Jerry, I see it mostly from younger anglers when it comes to fishermen not showing respect to each other, I always have to wonder if they did not have Family or older Mentors to teach them respect. They get a boat and want to be the next KVD and know nothing about putting in dues and respecting others. I know its not just fishing but dam it frustrates me to see it. I know if I ever treated others that way growing up I wouldn't have been sitting right for a month. I watched a younger angler this weekend early 20's brand new ranger on the bow casting the banks he was going so fast he was not retrieving the bait but the line. I asked him how he was doing and he told me they were not biting. My first thought went to Quill, RPS and others who are killing them on the Ned and if this kid would slow down I bet he would have caught a few. But made me wonder if he had that mentor growing up? https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Jerry Rapp Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 I was fishing a little derby at Clearwater a couple of years ago with my buddy jdw, we were rounding a point getting ready to fish the pocket and a young kid with a 17 foot tracker and one power pole, pulled in just in front of us. I just shook my head and moved on. Then a couple of other guys won tournaments at Clearwater fishing marina boat docks, even though they were posted as non fishing(it is a Little Rock Corps District Lake). I should have protested them both, but for a $300 jack pot it wasn't worth it to me.
fishinwrench Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Everyone bends over backwards to get kids into fishing/hunting.....Then when they do, everyone wants to kick most of their a$$es up between their shoulder blades. Are we now starting to realize that MOST kids are better left at home in the city, huffin' paint, smoking K2 and playing their computer games?

Are we now starting to realize that MOST kids are better left at home in the city, huffin' paint, smoking K2 and playing their computer games? No, it's the opposite. We need kids to be involved and share the passion/sport but......with proper mentors and guidance. Sounds like most of the younger anglers did not get any guidance and discovered the love for fishing later in life and simply got caught in the hype and competative nature. I won't mention any member names here but man..........you're starting to sound a lot like someone we all know. LOL! 1969Larson Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 What kids today need is ...... DADS! Words of advice to all new fathers... "Love their Mom. Take 'em fishing. "
fishinwrench Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 What kids today need is ...... DADS! Words of advice to all new fathers... "Love their Mom. Take 'em fishing. " 98.7% of divorce proceedings are filed by "Moms". Just sayin'. So maybe what kids need is Moms that aren't so hard to keep satisfied. Or, a court system that allows Dads to continue to have a life after Mom gets tired of Dads face.
Members beaverfan Posted April 30, 2014 Members Posted April 30, 2014 If you give me the coordinates, I'll go sit on the spot and whop anyone that shows up w/o a kayak. Seriously, that sucks and I hate that another fisherman was that rude. He'll be on some forum somewhere complaining of the jet skiers and pleasure boaters screwing up his fishing.
fishinwrench Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 No, it's the opposite. We need kids to be involved and share the passion/sport Need? Why? To support the future tackle industry? Enough will take interest on their own to ensure proper management of the resources. Things are already crowded enough out there as it is....ain't you been listening? LOL
