While nanofil is nice and thin and casts a mile I had a horrible experience with it snapping every time I set the hook. Really got tired of losing lures with it so it came off and went in the trash for some P-line CX Premium and YoZuri Hybrid. I like the P-Line better.

What pound test Nanofil did you try Jim? It will definitely break at the listed break strength. IF I choose to use a higher test leader than the listed strength of the Nanofil, I KNOW it is going to break the nanofil before it breaks the leader when I dead pull a snag.

Using UL, L and ML spinning rods, I have not broken off the Nanofil on the hookset a single time. I started using Nanofil last August and have gradually added it to more and more rods. More than half of my spinning rods are spooled with Nanofil at this point.

I have no interest in Nanofil on a baitcaster.

I use Nanofil 10lb with a 8lb fluorocarbon Yo-Zuri leader with no problems. It casts great, comes off the reel great. No loops to cause problems like mono or fluorocarbon with their memory problems. The main problem is having the drag set too high not allowing slippage with our hard Hook sets. What you have to remember is that there is little to no stretch in Nanofil or any of the braided lines. So adjust your drag to slip slightly on a hook set. Also the type of rod action also comes in to play also with line size and type used. I have tried several brands of leader material and I feel that Yo-Zuri is the best I have used to date. I also believe that there is a difference between using just regular fluorocarbon line verses fluorocarbon leader material.

I just purchased 8 bulk spools of maxima and it is the same color and the same strength as always. It is fantastic with absolutely zero memory for 2500 series spinning reel.

I can easily break 30 pound test of any line by holding the bait in one hand and pulling against the knot regardless of what kind of knot with my pull hand a ft. or under from the knot.

I can also wrap line around gloved hands of up to 30 pounds and pull it against its-self with no knot and break it.

If you are fishing a 4 or 6 pound line on the Ned rig on a 7' med light rod with the drag set on a quality reel, you will not break it. The rod more than absorbs any shock and will keep the fish on in good shape.

I have been fishing the Ned Rig today and it was a monster. I'm fishing it on a Falcon Jeff Kriet Signature Squrrel Tail. It worked Killer.

Like most anything you need to know how to fish it. My client did not know or for that matter, neither did I that you had to soak the line in the water. Every presentation we fished was of course with a low rod regardless of the wind. The wind yesterday however seemed to just pick his line up off the water and away it would go. He also was having a terrible time at first joining a piece of Fluro. to the fill. I solved that with an Albright. Still for what I do, I'm sticking with the maxi.

Good Luck

Thus the reasons I do not use a line to leader with the Ned. To many PITA issues.

Darn thing works, does it not?

It was silly today. Even Beck jacked with it and said it was completely Goofy.

Replied to your PM. Shocked Beck tried it, but knew he had been made aware of it. Folks who don't eat at Ma's miss out on a lot.

Had a client try and fish Nanofil yesterday in the wind. It was completely useless. We were fishing pretty lite and that stuff ccaught the air like a kite. it skated the 1/8 to 1/4 oz baits to the point my client put down his rod and picked up one of mine with Maxi on it. It changed his day. Said he was done with the fil especially if there was any wind. Guys, Maxima is not broken and does not need fixin. It is the best mono on the market and has been for more years and 10's of thousands of fish for this old fishin guide.

I agree Nanofil is a PIA in a breeze. I try to cast sidearmed and then still have to "fix" the line after it hits the water.

I'll stick with Excel or Maxi mono. The Excel is cheap enough that I don't even bother pulling it behind the boat or otherwise trying to get the inevitable twists that come after a day or two of fishing it. Just strip it off and spool on another 100 yards.

I nanofil with a fluro leader if the wind allows it. Otherwise I will just stick with invisix if it is windy.
