You're on the way to ruination Jeff.

Yep, I've been ruined. I'm looking forward to next winter using the Ned as a follow-up to the tube.

Don't stop throwing it until they stop eating it. Might be never.

I do set on them pretty hard unless swimming it on an open hook. With the weedless heads I often have it down in something, so the open heads are rarely used anymore. Spots are the worst about not getting hooked because of their stupid little mouths, and tendency to drop a bait. Brown fish and blacks usually get it.

I guess I need to work on my hook setting technique on the Ned. Seems if I set to hard, I miss them.

Could just be me, or it could be the spots up on that end of the lake.

I also never try to feel it, or the fish, and all that slack may be letting them get it a little better.

Missed and lost more fish this spring than usual, but my usual smallmouth places were infested with K's.

My wife loves the Ned too. She's got a 6' 6" ML/F St. Croix Avid Pearl with a Quantum Energy 10 loaded with 10lb bright pink Fireline (she's a big fan of the color pink and if it helps get her fishing, I'll buy it :) ) It's great because it'll catch numbers and she gets ahold of a good one every once in awhile. There's times it seems like I spend more time landing and unhooking her fish than I do fishing but that's okay with me. From last fall, she caught the bigger one and while I was holding it and digging for the camera to take a picture she cast back to the same spot and popped the smaller one.

Yep. Don't hand one to your wife, kids, or the guy on the back deck unless you want to be busy with the net.

Bottom line...it is great for a lot of folks because it just flat gets eaten up by fish, all kinds, all lakes, all seasons.

Note the take home message in Blue's reply...fall. It works outside of the spring festiva.

If you start your kids on this they will be dynamite worm, jig, and grub sticks before they can drive. And they will want to be in the boat with you, not at home on the PS3.

Nothing better than landing fish for a special partner.

promised to report on my first experience with uncle ned. it was a bust!!!!! i wasted two zeros gluing them to 4, 1/4 oz weedless mushroom heads. (its all i had )seems to me they sunk like a brick and didnt have any action. but ive got two 6'10'' ml spinning rods with 6lb floro spooled up so as soon as i can get some 1/16 and 1/8 oz mushroom jigs i'll try it again. i think all the crappie fishing ive been doing last couple of years will help me catch on to fishing the ned pretty quick i hope. i want to thank all of you for the good advice all i need to do is just get rigged right and i think i'll enjoy it as much as you guys do.
