Forsythian Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 I think the bigger picture is this: The gun lobby's #1 customers these days are people just like Crocker. And there is more and more of them everyday, buying into the warped dream that they're selling, which is "protect your property, protect you and your loved ones, its your constitutional right and obligation to do so, protect your castle, and your neighbors castle, the government wants you unarmed and defenseless and they are going to steal your children" Hoosiers eat this stuff up and its why the gun industry is having record sales. That and the deep hatred for Obama and government in general. If Crocker didn't look quite so crazy, and if the circumstances were altered even slightly, that NRA LaPierre dude would've been on live national news from the Steelville courtroom steps, arguing for this guys immediate release. ColdWaterFshr Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 You were generalizing it. I live in a area where you might consider people like my neighbor a Hoosier. He lives most of the time in a tiny A frame drives a old beat up chevy cary all nearly all of the time. He also owns several guns including a AR 15. He also likes his scotch but is not a drunk. Now to somebody like you that would more then likely qualify him as a Hoosier. Stop right there. Based on that, I cannot automatically qualify him as a hoosier. Is he into Nascar. Do several ex-girlfriends or wives have restraining orders against him. Has he been injured setting off fireworks.

So does Hoffmeyer. In fact, I went fishing with Hoffmeyer on Wednesday, and he had his 9mm holstered with him the whole time. Hoosier. I like most hoosiers, I really do. Wouldn't have them representing me in congress or living next door mind you, but they're for the most part, harmless. Don't pee on a gravel bar 381 feet from their property line and you might be okay.
Old plug Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Fishing with a 9mm strapped to his side.????? What you going to do with a gun strapped to tour side. Scare someone throw your weight around by showing you got a gun. You might just get into a alternation then what shoot somebody. If you felt threatened That would not protect you.in the courts. Then again exposing it on your side is going to put you at a disadvantage. If the other guy has his concealed he would nail you before you could get it out.

I might bring my .357 just in case there's any trouble (like forgetting my bottle opener, or running into Gene Hackman and his starting 5). Gotta be prepared. Cenosillicaphobiac
Wayne SW/MO Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Yeah nobody likes statistics, but the number of homicides and the number of deaths due to drunken drivers is always close. In spite of this you can still fill your tank and buy a pint in the same store. Anti gun people like to throw in suicides and ignore that fact that most homicides are commited by one age group in one ethnic group. They also don't want the fact that, in spite of gangs and the contribution by Chicago, gun deaths are down about 50% since '93. I'll bet when the anti gun lobby has a big party looking for loot they serve alcohol. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
