Care To Guess What These Crappie Are Gonna Do?

Recommended Posts

Seems that cold spell caused them to bail mid-spawn and they are reluctant to come back shallow.

The ones I am catching here in the Gravi (few as they may be) are 12-18' deep and still full of eggs.

Soooo.... wtf are we doing here? LOL

Anybody been up above Bollinger/Cartwright ? I'm headed up that way tomorrow on a crappie specific run.

Caught em in 10-11 feet of water off the ends of the docks on Saturday morning. By late afternoon they were in 2 foot. Some spawned out and some still packing. Caught shallow fish 4/11 and 4/18. I'd guess that most have spawned and some are still waiting. Not near the number of shallow fis that there was in mid April.

I think they are spawing some place sand about done others. I can see the bottom very clearly around here wrench at like I said a measured 8 ft. My neighbor has been out on his dock every evening going for the females and they sure are not in a mood to rise if they are there. A couple other neighbors that do a lot of crappie fishing think they are coming to the end of it. Would hot surprise me in the least. I still have those two bass hanging around in specific areas on the back of my dock So I am wondering if they are not getting sort of horny and about ready to fan. It looks like one has cleared a small spot he hangs very close to.

I will go to catfish with my spoons as son as the bass go on beds for awhile till they stop and go deep.

We fished up near Warsaw this weekend and the crappie bite wasn't worth a darn during the day. Once it was almost dark, they would move shallow and you could catch them nearly every cast though. I was throwing my cast net around looking for shad and caught several nice crappie in 12-20' of water though so they were around but right on bottom when the sun was still high.

Well we took a beating today. The friggin' wind was just too much so decent boat control was out the window.

I had a pattern going that was yielding one good quality fish per spot if one of us could get off a decent cast between gusts. It was frustrating!

I hate the #*%&%+ wind!
