dtrs5kprs Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Not for this guy. I like my sleep too much these days. Thus the rolled eyes. Last time I had a really good blade bite was 2012, and it was strictly weather related. Seems like it is a tougher bite every year. Maybe if we had some water in the bushes...
Champ188 Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Thus the rolled eyes. Last time I had a really good blade bite was 2012, and it was strictly weather related. Seems like it is a tougher bite every year. Maybe if we had some water in the bushes... Every now and then there's a good blade bite in the cedars. Usually doesn't last more than a day at a time. Sometimes not even a full day. But those can be special times because the fish are usually thumpers. You can put together an 18-pound bag faster than you can say War Eagle.
Bill Babler Posted May 30, 2014 Author Posted May 30, 2014 You know I have seen formula's for judging wt. by length and here is a great example of why you just cannot do it. Her tail was extremely long and not broomed off abit, but she had bloody sores all over it along with her side from rubbing out the bed and shaking loose the eggs. She was thin thru the flanks but had a very thick back. I don't know if she would have lost 3 pounds during this very stressful spawn period, but I'm thinking at her max potential she would have been pushing at least 8. For as thin and worn as she was, she made 2 huge jumps and it was a chore getting her picture as she fought us all the way. I put her in the Phoenix livewell and ran a ton of water on her before we let her loose and she just came unglued. Great sign, hope she does it again next year. Special fish for a special lady, Karen did a great job today. That's what its all about guys when your wife has a great time like that. Could see here that Larry was as happy as Karen. Almost. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
rps Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 On Table Rock I have caught two fish that were 23.5 to 24 inches. One Cabela spring scaled at 6.75 the other was over 8. A 26 inch fish, even if skinny, is amazing!
magicwormman Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Great fish!!! I love when a plan comes together. It's amazing, the older we get, how much pleasure we get from seeing others catch a big fish. Bill, let me know, when you figure out this topwater deal. I've had one (1) good topwater day, in the rain, and that was pre-spawn. It might be one of those years, when it just doesn't happen. Usually, I can find some whites, at this time of year too, but not this year. I guess that's why we love this sport..............it ain't easy.
Duck Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 We fished out of Big M yesterday and ended up with 7 in the boat, 2 keeper size., 1 smallie and the rest lg, and spots. Caught 2 on Zara spook in chrome and the other on bone. If anyone catches a 16 inch keeper with a chrome spook in its yap that is also mine. Poor knot tie. All other on green tube. Water temp. was 75. Good luck, Duck.
willyfish Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Now I have an idea what my 2 fish weighed, same length I think and both postspawn. Thanks fellas
LD Fisher Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Thanks Bill. Great job on what I thought would be an "iffy" day for fishing. I just have to say that Karen threw to the spot I planned to cast to and beat me to that fish ; >) !! I think half the world has seen that picture now. She's very proud of it and what we learned paid off this morning when she caught an 18" LM........and yes she beat me again!!
