I've tried Yo-Zuri and it's a great line but I find myself liking P-Line CX Premium better. It's a super tough copolymer line like Yo-Zuri but I find it has less memory even without the line conditioner.

Same here. I was fond of Silver Thread when it was available, but I think P-Line is better. I've used the original for probably 10 years now and no complaints. One thing in its favor is that it works on spinning and casting really well and that's rare in a line.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

I've tried a few other lines, but keep coming back to Maxima mono, usually 6 lb green, for my spinning rods. 4 lb for trout.

Baitcaster, doesn't matter as much but I still prefer Maxima 12 lb.

I've been a big McCoys fan for a long time. Of all the lines I've tried, none have beaten and few have matched McCoys Mean Green in 8 pound test. Regardless of what Joe said, there ARE differences in lines, and sometimes the difference can be important, although it can also be a matter of personal preference.

And I doubt if anybody giving recommendations, including me, has fished every line out there and can definitively say that one line is the absolute best. I often think it would be more valuable for people to tell which lines they DON'T recommend. Except that usually, when I try it and don't like it, I take it off and forget about it and don't remember a year or two later what the heck it was.

I too used to use Yo-Zuri, but find that it curls up to much. I have now switched all my spincast out to P-line Fluroclear.

If you want something that cast far use the nano fill with a leader. I was skeptical and used to think it was a weak line, but don't let anyone tell you different. I caught this 8lb redfish on my trip to new orleans a month ago. I was worried the line would snap from what I read, but it held up. Red Fish are some of the hardest fighters I've seen and If the line can handle these fish it will certainly bring in any smallmouth around here.

Any way Yo-Zuri is a great line, but for distance it can’t stand up to the nano fill. For good around line I would go with a P-line.

I have found that GAMMA line has really good abrasion resistance, and is not too bad on a spinning outfit

HOG LAW I understand trout sight and even then I got to wonder. You see the old timers even before my time hated a noisy reel. They believed and I tend to think they have a valid point. that the noise of the reel went right down the line. I can remember making sound powered phone with tin can and string and how that worked. I believe that sound and vibration is transmitted down a fishing line and that the fish can clearly know it is there. That's why I do not bother with a leader. I am sure the fish is aware of a line but just does not pay attention to it because its attention is diverted by the lure or bait. The other thing I wonder is how well a fish might see a line even crystal clear one. I have never seen a study done on that before from the standpoint of the fishes vision. It has been proven fish see ultra violent and infra red. So color as we know it may not look the same to them because of the chemical composition of the line. What we think is clear may be very visible to them.

I guarantee you that fish can see 4 pound fluorocarbon line. Of course, it isn't as obvious as 30 pound braid, but they can know it's there. I don't think that MOST fish, including trout, are nearly as line shy as many anglers think. I suspect that a lot of the supposed greater success with lighter line is more of a function of the light line giving the lure more action, letting it go deeper, or the line not being affected by the current as much. Could "wise" old fish get conditioned to avoid line? Sure. But since they can see light line, it might not make much difference whether the line is 2 lb. test or 6 pound test, 7X or 5X. And there are other potential negative cues that are more obvious than line. You think if a trout can see well enough to be selectively feeding on mayflies instead of your imitation, that they can't see a hook hanging out of that mayfly's butt?

I'm partial to high vis yellow braid with a leader . Works for bass and trout. Have not tried the the yo-zuri. Sunline sucks. It is thin, but a leader of Seaguar flouro fly tippet is a lot stronger and more abrasion resistant, IMO.

I think the hi-vis line thing is a great idea. I remember not being able to see Fireline.

I cant see the dark colored braids very well at all...black, green, even the red.. With yellow I can easily visualize were my candy is when I cannot see it...Look for activity where you think it is...or the line might move oddly. It doesn't seem to put fish off in gin clear water if you are using an appropriate leader. Spin rod strike indicator and braid lasts for a season or three. Wish my guitar strings had that much life in them. Still use mono on my casters...Might try that yo-zuri next time I spool up a couple rigs. Have not tried the nanofil...To many choices most work pretty well.
