garyw Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 I'm happy with my 20 ft landau toon with my 90 horse force. it's what i can afford, and you may beat to the fishing spot, but you won't have more fun.
Sac River Jim Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Not all of us are married to Type A women. Donna is every bit as fond of the boat and all of our fishing equipment as I am, and she owns no more pairs of shoes than me, which at last count was 3 or 4. Doesn't drive a mini-van either. And catches as many or more fish than I do. Fishes when it's 20 degrees or 100 degrees and everything in between, rain or shine. Can back a boat trailer better than most men. yea rub it in champ hahaha!!!! seriously you are truly blessed my friend
Sac River Jim Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 i was just ready to install the new seats and carpet in my boat and i got the jack plate and raker prop on just before mom had to go back to the hospital as soon as i can get mom home im hoping to have the old champion ready to show off and get er on the water
5bites Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Awesome possum. I look forward to hearing how she scoots.
Sore Thumbs Posted June 26, 2014 Author Posted June 26, 2014 Yeah. I've been trying to talk my wife into a newer boat. She is a tough nut to crack. Until she gives in I will continue to rock the ole 492 as long as I can.

Guys, see why I keep him? He comes with that snazzy rig! Oh, yeah, and he's a sweet-talker. Footnote: Will NEVER drive a mini-van. ryan Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Buy what you can afford or what you want to afford. If fishing is your passion then you probably want nice equipment to do it with, nothing wrong with that as far as I'm concerned. In college I fished out of a 14 foot aluminum boat, not as comfortably as my Z520, but then again I would fish out of an inflatable raft if it was what I had. I like the new E-Tec but just don't think I could give up my Yamaha SHO, that thing is a beast and knock on wood has been bullet proof. I know they all blow at some point but I'm really impressed with this motor after two years of running it.
Unimog Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Yeah I like my sho pretty well too, 90 trouble free hours! One other thought was for not much money you can go to your local sign shop and have a wrap to make your motor any color you want.

Just for the sake of stirring s#it, and not that it means anything, BUT I just visited with a 1986 GT150 that was rebuilt 11 years ago (by yours truly) that has just under 500 hours on it. It had developed a trim fluid leak and needed 23.00 worth of seals.
Champ188 Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 Darn good ol' motors, Wrench. But boy do they love them some gasoline.
