I've been coming to the lake since I could walk and did the resort thing back in the 80s..recently have either stayed with family in No. Arkansas or got a larger condo with the extended family..so...looking to come down with my girlfriend, my 2 kids, her 2 kids (all ages 4-9), and the Phoenix 721 in tow...before you tell me I'm crazy to make the trip, I'm looking for a resort recommendation..on the water, preferably in a cove, and on the eastern half of the lake, if possible. Kimberling, Indian Creek, dam, Long Creek, etc...trying to avoid the Campbell Point, Shell Knob, viola, upper white area, based on travel time from the St. Louis area. Thank you...

Schooner Creek in Kimberling has room for all of that. Give Leon a call and see what he has available. Good ramp, close to plenty of fish, room to park your boat right up by the room where the sticky fingered types can't get at it while it is slipped.

Also less than 5 minutes to groceries, tackle, restaurants, hardware, medical/pharmacy, post office, etc.

Used to stay at Schooner but now prefer Harper's Valley, also in Kimberling. Basil and Nancy are incredibly great hosts and they have great rates on everything up to 2-3 bedrooms. Tell 'em James and Donna sent ya.

I stay at the Hide-a-Away resort up on the James River Arm. Quiet up that way. Nice dock and accomodations. Right next to the hideaway marina. Its a little far from town but I like it up there.

I'm a fan of schooner creek myself.........but my wife is a bit more 'difficult to please'?..........shall we say.:-)......... She's never been to schooner; and she had little interest in even coming to table rock.........of course, until a friend recommended Stillwaters resort near Indian point. Then table rock was suddenly a great idea (huh!?!??.........women can be strange!)........anywho, I jumped at the opportunity. Stillwaters is VERY nice and VERY family friendly with a little general store that makes subs and pizzas; right there on the property. Fancy pool with a wooden bridge over it and a waterfall. And elevators to all the floors........ Not cheap for the 2 bedroom condo with kitchen and patio deck lakeside we stayed in, but, it kept everyone happy. So that's all I needed. Dock was very nice with a large day parking area at the ramp; and the ramp has a nice gradual slope. BUT, keep in mind if you don't slip your boat; you can't park it at night by your room; you've got to park it up in the gravel lot, away from the buildings; with the other empty trailers.:-(

We stayed at At the Lake Whispering Woods Resort a couple years ago in West Fischer Creek across from Kimberling City. Nice place, has it's own boat ramp and slips for your boat.
