dtrs5kprs Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Remember Ron White's (comedian) altruistic statement ? ....... "YOU CAN'T FIX STUPID" ! Enough said. Regarding boating in the thick fog: remember a few years back when the idiot organizers of the Ranger Owners Tournament turned about 250 boats loose in the 7 A.M. fog ? Amazing and just dumb luck that no one was killed that morning. All too well. Went out well before their takeoff, idled across the mouth of Indian, and was tucked up against the bluff generally west of Baxter ramp. It was crazy dangerous. A few "no ski" areas would at least give folks who want to fish an option. Back of Flat would be a prime place, for obvious safety reasons.

merc1997 Bo Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 You guys are douches for even griping about it. Get a life... or try fishing something obscure besides your precious home waters.do not know one thing about you, and hopefully you are courteous to others on the water by not boating too close and throw your wake over into another boat. but, there are many things going on on the water that need a stop put to. since head are turned the other way for things line jet skies, then perhaps it is open season for breaking the law. jet skies are not the only problem. i have read several responses about how the docks are getting torn up. of those docks, how many boats in the slips, and how many are wake makers. table rock is too narrow for big wakes to dissipate enough before running into something, and especially when the boat making the big wake drives by within casting distance. so, no, we are not "douches". some people still have some common sense. bo

Bill Babler Posted July 5, 2014 Author Posted July 5, 2014 Really do not know what it is with the Patrol. Since they removed the Water Patrol and went to the State Patrol the last 3 yrs. on Table Rock, being on the lake close to 200 days per year, I have only saw them once on the water. There were 2 setting in a cove and talking across from the 13 boat dock. That is it, I have not seen or spoke to one. We do see one usually at the Big Cedar fireworks display every year. and that is pretty much it. I usually will see them maybe 3 or 4 days a year on Taneycomo, but they are pretty leary of the water down there and pretty much just idle thru to make a presence felt and then head out. I really do not think they ever anticipated what the traffic was going to be here or the size and speed of the boats. These new big wake boats here are a new deal, in the last 3 yrs. or so. And really it is pretty hard to get the patrol with the lack of personal out as early and to stay out as long as they need to. Simply a lack of man power. Nixon really smoked the pooch when he disbanded the Water Patrol. He made our water ways extremely unsafe and created a huge hazard. I'm putting it all on him. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com

Common sense has gone down the highway. You did the right thing by just staying home after your fiascoes. We who pay taxes are being punished because the politicians know where the votes are. Sorry Phil, I just can't resist pointing out common sense sometimes.

dtrs5kprs Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Water Patrol that is. Did see them make a stop this April, couple of guys in a nicer jon boat. Only thing we could think of was an equipment check, or maybe the operator's deal based on their ages. Meanwhile the big boats were running amok as usual.

Bill it doesnt seem to be any better up at Ruark Bluff on Stockton either. There was a serious jet ski crash yesterday and I sat on the fishing barge for over 7 hrs today observing the insanity and I saw the highway patrol cruising over by the swimming area for a few minutes then he headed back towards the dam. All I seen was a total disregard of boating and safety regulations. Here's the link I found on the crash if anyone is interested because the best I can tell it didnt even make any of the local news channels.
