bfishn Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 ... you just had to have a bait in their way. ...to do that, I kept 2 rods rigged with slip bobbers (with crappie minnows dangling in the tank) set at (whatever) depth I marked them at. Stand on the troller until you mark one you want, and drop the bait with an open spool right on its' green little nose. Come off the troller, let the floats stand up while the boat coasts and the line spills. Be ready. If you lead them right, the bobber just goes down, never having had the chance to stand up. I never tried spoons, etc, 'cause when I can get them on the bobber I can't quit... :-) I can't dance like I used to.
bfishn Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 ...let the record show, I trademarked a proper name for that previously-seldom-revealed tactic; Precision Bombing. I can't dance like I used to.
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 I was diving last weekend out of Diamond City. I dove their a lot last year and didnt see hardly any Zebra muscles. Last weekend they were thick. Seems they have quadrupled since last year. Saw a lot of bass in the 15 to 35 range all on brush and big timber. conservation piles were loaded with huge bass. Dont waste time fishing anywhere there isnt brush. Shot 1 nice walleye in 18' on a conservation pile. That was the only one i saw all weekend. Also got one nice Channel and it was the only one i saw also.
Quillback Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 That's a big channel cat. Interesting about the bass in the brush piles.
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 seems like it needed to be a big tree 2 or 3 feet in diameter, there are a few of them. Didnt see many bass on just the random small trees kinda needed a pile of them. And man its funny to watch how those Kentuckys react to a diver. One of them swam up to me face to face kinda put his nose down and started fluttering all his fins, Thought the little guy was gonna try to run me off
powerdive Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Interesting about only seeing one walleye. Makes me feel a little better on a personal level, not so much otherwise. Rangerman and Packersooner were down there last weekend as well. They struggled on walleyes also.
Wayne SW/MO Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 From this angle, which isn't good, I don't see any channel, looks more like a flat? Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Fish24/7 Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 tasty catfish nuggets!! always wanted to spearfish, health problems
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Definitly a channel. Flat heads don't have that blue color or the sharp barbs that impaled me once the fight underwater was on
