Members Oldschoolcane Posted June 9, 2016 Members Posted June 9, 2016 Great info, a question about the balsa have you ever tried just using cedar? I suppose the balsa is lighter on a fly rod but I am curious to see if cedar would work any better? Tim
BilletHead Posted June 9, 2016 Author Posted June 9, 2016 I am sure cedar will work but like you said a bit heavy. More durable too. Never tried it. Like the way balsa floats and carving is a breeze! I bet if a guy wanted to he could make some great spinning lures out of the cedar, BilletHead "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" Members Oldschoolcane Posted June 9, 2016 Members Posted June 9, 2016 Yep, the casting baits I make out of cedar are great I am just not sure how a smaller lure would work with a fly rod.
