I am afraid this topic will die when the skunk dies of old age. But it will be an entertaining ride.

I baited one trap with tuna cat food & the other with catfish pellets & karo syrup.

Let the fun begin. :graffiti:

Them stinky things were running rampant out at Montauk this weekend. Camped in Loop 1 at the upper end and saw plenty. They must have been attracted to the dog in the tent across the way about 2 in the morning, the feller in the tent had a tirets fit about then and came unglued. Did not smell it though.

Smelled a few around the campfire. Saw the 2 lovers. Another neighbor said he saw one dash under his van. They need to trap some out again there.

It is my observation, a good rain brings them out in warm weather in force. They like to dig, I guess the ground is softer.

That big coon wrestled both traps across the lawn.

She's a crafty old gal.

Im going to resort to the hot dog on a stick, trick.

They really liked the catfish pellet/karo syrup dessert.

You need one of these to get that ole coon, a Griz Getter or one of the china knockoffs. Neat little trap that requires a critter with a grabbing motion to trigger it. You can poke your finger in it all you want, but try to curl it and pull it out and you are trapped. Skunks will trigger it too. You can probably find one locally at a place that sells traps. Put some bait in the bottom and stick it into the ground. Anchor it with a rebar stake or tie it off to something solid. Your fish pellet mixture will work well in the bottom of the trap.

I've never been into trapping but I ran with a bunch of guys that were, and I can't ever remember anyone mentioning catching a skunk in one.....although I'm sure it does happen.

As many as I see dead on the roads I'm blown away by the fact that I never see them in the woods. I really don't even know much at all about their habits other than they suck at crossing ribbons of asphalt.

I have caught a couple in a box trap around here. One for Oklaterre complex. I used the old blanket cover technique. there does not seem to be many around here.

Trophy Fiah R------ You just better get a gun and shoot it or hire a trapper because I have never seen a worse demonstration of attempted trapping or Vermin control in my entire life.

I've caught eveything but the skunk, its been entertaining to say the least.

I wouldnt call it the worst attempt at trapping.

Maybe a really bad attempt at trolling on your part.

It seems you always come out of the woodworks to bash me.

I guess haters gotta job to do.

To be quite honest, its been a great way for me and my toddler to bond.

I let him put the catfish pellets in the trap yesterday.

Everytime, I catch something new, I make it a point to drive the truck over to the traps & let him see the critters.

He loves talking about the "coon". He points & says "Dada, coon"

Good times
