Quillback Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Or spin bait - whatever it's called. Anyway I threw one (the Duo Realis) yesterday for a bit, thought it might be something they'd eat while they were feeding on shad. Nothing touched it, tried different retrieve speeds, depths, but no takers. Anybody have any luck with these things?
Ham Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 I get bit EVERYTIME I try it, but the problem has been that many of the bites are panfish and i've lost the only couple of GOOD bites I've gotten on it. A disappointment to this point TBH. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Quillback Posted July 30, 2014 Author Posted July 30, 2014 I didn't even get a bite. You slow rolling it?
Ham Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Yes Sir! I throw it on 6 or 8 lb nano with a 6 lb leader. I've been using a fairly light spinning rod. I might need to beef it up a bit. Points and bluff banks. BUT this was all spring long. I have not been on the lake in a few weeks. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
fishingaddiction Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 I fished them on several outings this spring. I caught about a dozen fish on it, mostly K's. Fished it like a grub, slow rolling it close to the bottom. I haven't been fishing much lately, but check out Pete Wenners fishing report video last week. He reports it's working good in open water on bass close to the surface that won't hit a TW. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
Pepe Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 I was told it has to be fished on 6 or 4 lb line orit won't run properly.
fishingaddiction Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 I was fishing it on 6 # mono, and have not tried it on any other lb line. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
Ham Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 FWIW, 8 lb Nano smaller diameter than 4 lb mono. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Sore Thumbs Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 I threw it under a lit dock at night last summer and White bass were hammering it. Caught some 3lb females with it. Those hooks are so sharp.
bluebasser86 Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 I had good success with one early this year and haven't ever used it since. One of those things where I'm driving home and I think about it and wish I would have tried it.
