mojorig Posted August 8, 2014 Author Posted August 8, 2014 Yes, aquatic vegetation is good!!! I know that is strange to hear from a biologist. Jeremy Risley District Fisheries Supervisor AGFC Mountain Home Office - 1-877-425-7577 Email: Jeremy.Risley@agfc.ar.gov
Bird Watcher Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 If I had 1/100th of the money spent on Zebra mussel propaganda I could retire in grand fashion. It's to the point now that it pisses me off to even hear anyone mention them. They aren't hurting anything, and there's nothing you could do about it if they were ! Drop it already ! Zebra mussels, didymo, ash borer..... It's always something. Biologists are becoming worse than doctors and lawyers at justifying their phoney baloney "jobs". This is the reality. It's inevitable. I probably wouldn't have taken the shot at biologists, but there is no provision in the form of regulation or sign posting that is going to stop the spread of invasives such as these. To believe otherwise is a unicorn hunt.
Cindyjo Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Thanks for the update. There are those naysayers whom may be right or just might be wrong. My father would tell me smoking never hurt anyone. He died at 60 with lung cancer. No harm in bringing this aquatic problem to the public attention. Thanks again.

mojorig Posted August 8, 2014 Author Posted August 8, 2014 No hurt feelings, I was just posting some observations and info so people can form their own opinions. Bird watcher is correct that it is enviable they will get spread to other water bodies. But by getting information out, can we delay the enviable? I'm not sure but doesn't hurt to try. Champ188 Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Hey mojo, what happened with the experimental introduction of vegetation at Bull Shoals? Did it ever "take" or was the climate/lake bottom just not suitable?
mojorig Posted August 8, 2014 Author Posted August 8, 2014 High water year killed everything off. Jeremy Risley District Fisheries Supervisor AGFC Mountain Home Office - 1-877-425-7577 Email: Jeremy.Risley@agfc.ar.gov
Nitroman Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Will they help or hurt the lakes I can't say. But if I could get a line & a bet down in Vegas I could make a lot of money. We are fighting a battle we will not win as the pleasure boaters & jet-skiers simply " DON'T GIVE A S_ _T " !!!!!!! Rock View Resort Table Rock Lake Greg Pope, Owner/Operator & Fishing Guide
Flysmallie Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 I badly wish stockton was a grass lake. That would be awesome. I remember when Pomme was a grass lake. It was wonderful.
