I was in the Army, but "squared away" is one phrase that I remember.

One I have never heard outside of the Army was "case of the azz". If someone was mad they had a "case of the azz". But that was 35 years ago.

I don't remember using most of those, standby and squared away is still in my vocabulary. I shot on an AF pistol team and taught small arms so lock and load has been with me a long time.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Never served in the military, but I was in the diplomatic corps and did intelligence work in Eastern Europe during the Cold War. We had fly boys all around the embassy, so I know some of the lingo:

'You eye-ballin' me boy?'

'I've got nowhere else to go!'

'Jerries at twelve o'clock'

'I feel the need. The need for speed.'

'Mayo, I want your DOR!'

'Talk to me, Goose.'

'Did you see that bodacious set of tatas?'

An old Military Pilots joke:

A gal was giving a sex survey on a military transport. She asked the pilot, "When is the last time you had sex?" "1959!"he said

She said "wow that's a long time ago"

He said "Well, considering it's 2115 I wouldn't say that was too bad!"
