Ham Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 Hey QB, For me, minimum flow equals 1/32 oz mostly with 1/16 oz in deeper holes or higher flow areas. I use 1/16 oz when I get water > 1000 CFS to around 2000 CFS. I'll use 1/8 oz as often as I can get away with it. I can usually get away with it when the water is > 2000 CFS, but the trout will quickly tell you what they do or do not want. IF you KNOW you're on fish and are not getting the bites you expect, try a different color or size jig. I carry more colors than are really needed. Get yourself 3-5 colors. in equal numbers of 1/16 and 1/8 oz. Just a guess, but I expect water btw 1000-5000 CFS. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
LittleRedFisherman Posted November 16, 2014 Author Posted November 16, 2014 Fixing to freshen up my jig suppy and possibly another jig rod getting ready for the OA trip! May sling a few jerkbaits again to! I have a feeling somebody is gonna land a monster brown this year!! There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
snagged in outlet 3 Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 I have this penciled in. I'd like to go if it's okay with you guys. I probably won't make the trip if the weather doesn't get into the 40's though. Pete
Ham Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Come on down Pete. We'll find room for you in somebody's boat. This weather sucks, but isn't any indicator of what weather we'll have by then. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
gotmuddy Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 there is always room! everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
LittleRedFisherman Posted November 18, 2014 Author Posted November 18, 2014 You bet, this is what this is all about!! I"m with ya on the 40's. But I'm game with anything at this point! There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
Ham Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 I'm ok with whatever temps we get, but the wind needs to be < 15 MPH for the jig fishing to shine. There's lots of ways to catch a few fish and I'll adapt if need be, but I'm going to stay hopeful. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Quillback Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 Yeah, come on down Pete! Heck who knows, we might have temps in the 50's.
hoglaw Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 I'm going to be a game time decision unfortunately. Have a case that's heating up and may be taking depositions in Dallas right around that time. We'll see.
