waterpossum Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Most every morning when I get up I check the local lake levels in the newspaper. Stockton Lake has been pretty consistant at about 868 through the summer to present, maybe inching down a little bit recently. To my surprise this morning the level showed 866.64 as opposed to 868.05 only Tuesday. I thought at first it only a misprint, but on further investigation after checking a corp chart noticed for a period Tuesday there was a drastic drop in water. Any explanations please.?
fishinwrench Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 The folks down below gotta fish too !
minnowhooker Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 I seen that and thought it was a mistake.
Jerry Rapp Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 here is a link to the daily stages and forecast from the Water Control in Kansas City http://www.nwd-mr.usace.army.mil/rcc/nwk/lakepool.txt
Skeeter ZX190 Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 It has to be a mistake. I was there yesterday and the lake level is a little high, not low.
5bites Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 They did this a while back then corrected it. It's doubtful the lake could drop 1.5' almost instantly.
MOPanfisher Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Hmm I thought I had posted a reply but doesn't show. Anyway Stocktons morning reading was 868.34. I would guess a lightning strike messed it up, happens to us occasionally and has to be re-set. Has to be manually read for a while though, and the automatic reading is what gest reported to all the electronic sources. so for now use the link below, it will give you the level as of about 0800 hrs until it gets fixed. http://www.nwk.usace.army.mil/Locations/DistrictLakes/StocktonLake/DailyLakeInformation.aspx
5bites Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 MOPanfisher, pardon my ignorance but what connection do you have with the lake/lake level? Do you work for the COE or conservation?
MOPanfisher Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 I work for the COE at Pomme de Terre Lake.
