Yeah, so who takes possession of the gun upon your death ?

I believe that would have to be spelled out in the fine print setting up the trust. Legally, it is the property of the trust, but who controls that is a legal matter. None of my Class III acquaintances have passed away yet, so I'm not sure how that works.

I use my Bushmaster XM 15-C4 Patrolman Semiautomatic Rifle for squirrel hunting. Turned it into an automatic with a kit from a gun show to increase my odds.

Sarcasm folks. Illustrating the ridiculousness of assault weapons for sportsman purposes.

The AR platform is a great rifle. Completely modular and can be configured in a multitude of ways for hunting big game, predators, varmits, target and competition, and just plain old fun shooting. They can even be used for home defense. There are more ways to customize it than any other rifle out there. And the most popular ones use military calibers that are being mass produced and are usually cheaper to shoot.

Back in the 80's when I purchased my first Colt A2, they were ugly and misunderstood. But 30 years later, they are on every gun store shelf and catalog, and are made by all major gun makers.

Jd, I don't profess to be all that knowledgeable about the AR, but let me ask you this...Is there any hunting, or even home defense, scenario where the AR platform would be the BEST choice? What I'm getting at is, yes, I know it can be customized a lot of different ways to accomplish a lot of different purposes, but if I was shopping for a rifle for any given hunting situation, would I seriously consider the AR or would I be better off buying a rifle that is made for that purpose? As for home defense, I know danged well that I personally would never choose any kind of rifle for home defense due to the penetration problem. I'm firmly convinced that a shotgun is by far the best home defense weapon, with a handgun a distant second.

I know that any semi-auto "assault rifle" is no more likely to be more efficient at killing people than a given semi-auto hunting rifle of similar caliber, except if it has a larger magazine capacity. But I'm afraid that a whole lot of people are buying them for reasons that have little to do with how useful a tool they are for the usual purposes that civilians buy guns, and far more either because they "look mean" or to thumb their nose at the anti-gun people.

I'd like to lay into a herd of feral hogs with a 20 rd magazine on a AR style rifle. Even better if it was at night with a night vision scope with the use of a suppressor. There's not a better firearm for that type of hunting I'd say.
