Ham Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 We see a lot of them diving in Norfork. They get pretty darn big Any chance you could point me towards a general area where you saw said Redeara on Norfork. I just need to catch one and any caught will be quickly released back into the lake. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish

fishinwrench Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Ham, quite a few MDC lakes/ponds are stocked with them, at least up in this area they are. I have caught them as big as the mouth of a 5gal. bucket in 3 different MDC managed lakes. Shouldn't be too hard to scratch that one off your list this year if ya hurry.
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Brush piles close to the dam. Seems like they hang out with the crappie
Champ188 Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Hey champ, what a coincidence that you brought up Pensacola Florida, back when I was a young teenager in the 70's our family went out to Santa Rosa island every year for 2 weeks camping out at fort Pickens and we would fish out where Pensacola bay and the gulf met at night for blues and red fish and we would load up em & also hunting for crabs. Brings back a lot of memories!! Very cool, 96CHAMP. I know the exact place of which you speak. Used to take my bass boat out there on calm days and just hammer those bluefish on the jetties on an outgoing tide. Dang things would destroy a spinnerbait. Certain times of the year, those crabs would come out of the ocean by the thousands. They'd be mashed all up and down the highway that ran along the beach.
hknfsh Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 There is a lake called Council Bluff Lake that MDC manages exclusively for the Redear Sunfish. Heard its a good place to fish. Been on it once by boat....not a huge lake though. But it would take a day or two to fish it all good. Has a nice boat ramp.
Ham Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Thank You. I may very well give them a try. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Jeremy Rasnick Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 These are fairly rare on the rock. I panfish quite a bit and only managed 4 in my life. The highest concentrations are up the white river. I see several on stringers around eagle rock. 2 of my 4 were 11 3/4 inches
Champ188 Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Those are big ones for sure, Jeremy. Gotta be getting close to 2 pounds at that length.
