Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted October 11, 2014 Root Admin Posted October 11, 2014 Caught these just off the gravel bank below the Narrows today on a #14 Peppy scud tied on a 200R hook, weighted. More rainbows caught but I didn't want to get the camera wet!
Ham Posted October 11, 2014 Posted October 11, 2014 I don't like the colors on the yellow looking ones very much. I've tried asking various ppl about the diiferent strains of Rainbows we have in the White River below BSL and haven't gotten a lot of useful information. Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted October 11, 2014 Author Root Admin Posted October 11, 2014 I think they may be so convoluted now that no one can name them anymore. Been catching some males, yellow tints, that are really pretty. Clear bold spots and nice red sides. A lot of the males are dark and not pretty though.
Ham Posted October 11, 2014 Posted October 11, 2014 I'll have to make a real effort to get pictures of some of the "prettier" ones I catch. Sometimes though the camera just doesn't seem to catch some of the subtle undertomes. Some are really pink, some have a lot of white on the front edge of their fins, some have that red or pink, or orange "scum" on their bellies, some are loaded with big black dots all over them and others have tiny dots more on their back and tail. fishinwrench Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 That fish in the first and third pics looks like a Signature series rainbow. For a second there I thought it spelled "Phil". See it ?
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted October 12, 2014 Author Root Admin Posted October 12, 2014 1 and 3 are the same fish. I didn't notice the order... I take pics of the head and full fish usually.
fishinwrench Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Yeah, I was just referring to the markings. It kinda looks..... Oh nevermind
