Its a good thing that lion was shot in arkansas. Ifn he had crossed over into the missouri you tree huggers would have loved and squeezed him to death. He probably would prefer shot.

LOL, an Arkansinian casting stones?, LOL.. Thats AWESOME!!!! Not worthy of a reply, BUT AWESOME!!

I highly doubt that anybody on here is anti-hunting, and I sure ain't. I just don't see any point whatsoever in shooting something just because. I would far rather have a few mountain lions roaming around than about 3/4ths of the idiots in the woods during deer season.

And by the way, if "tree hugger" means having a love and reverence for nature, then I'm definitely a tree hugger. I've even been known to hug trees. I also hunt and eat a lot of wild game. Believing that the Ozarks is a bit wilder and more interesting with a few big cats inhabiting the region doesn't make one an animal rights/anti-hunting idiot.

Exactly. Tree hugging peta loving bleeding hearts calling "bs" on a story and situation they know nothing about and labeling the guy is ignorant. We know what he said. It was a threat. Good kill it.

Before long you won't be able to swat flies without fear of a ticket. Get over it. That cat being dead affects you in no way. Letting it walk could have changed the hunters life (which is of much higher value) forever.

Being called a bleeding heart peta lover may be the most offensive thing I have ever been called. What I am is an outdoorsman who enjoys nature and would love to see a cougar while sitting in my deer stand. I shot a doe with my bow this evening and will hopefully shoot a deer with my rifle tomorrow, the only bleeding heart around here is the deers'. I won't hesitate to kill a dirty coyote as long as they are in season, and I love to trap furbearers. I won't kill an animal if it is not going to be utilized in some way, if a bear or cougar threatens me to the point I am fearful for my life I will kill it, to kill something because it could potentially hurt you is cowardly. I never said I knew this was the case in this situation, hopefully it was justified.

I'll shoot a peta member long before a cougar.

I am a confessed tree hugger, its difficult to get some stand anchored properly without hugging the tree.

As for the Cat, My personal thoughts are the guy saw it and shot it and was not one bit afraid of it. I would guess the story was ( in defense ) for fear of warden issues.

I grew up in Cat Country ( San Bernardino and Los Angeles ) Forrest amongst others in Cali, I ran in to cats often during quail and turkey season and NEVER had an altercation with them except for one time nearer a subdivision the Cat had been seen in getting in peoples trash and cat/dog food. The Wild cats I would know when they were present that 6th since would kick in but after spotting them it passed and the cat typically just went its way.

I would never have thought about and never will think about shooting an apex predator unless threatened and it would have to be a legitimate threat to me as in charging. But sitting in a stand seeing it walking near to me is not a threat in any way shape or form.... It would be to me a chance to experience something truly amazing and beautiful.

Lets talk about Orion the Wrench puppy. I bet he would protect that dog from a big cat. I know that is all I've been hearing from Mrs. BilletHead is about that dog since she got to meet him yesterday. :)

:D Yeah he might not be able to rip a cougars throat out, but he could wear one slick by shadowing it and chewing its tail. Just ask Sadie.

Seriously though, puppy teeth are wicked. My hands and arms look like I've been gar fishing.

Thanks a lot,

Now I have to show her that. Sadie said you have to lick Orion's face for her too,
