I'm hoping you guys come around and remove the rule of no firearms in the boat. I haven't seen another series with that.

The Army Corp of Engineers does not allow carry on its properties which include many of the lakes where we host events. If you are carrying on a Corp property you are in violation and therefore in violation of the first rule in our tournament. We do host events on lakes where carry is legal but we aren't making that rule applicable at one event and then modifying rules at another.

There's no "agenda". If you choose not to compete based on that rule we respect that 100%.

Now can we get this post back on topic? :)

I really didn't mean for it to turn into a crapfest I promise. I was seeking answers and offering feedback.

I still don't get why it must be in your rules if all other corps rules aren't but that's your choice.

Looks like things may be changing. It's easy to see why. http://www.nraila.org/news-issues/articles/2014/10/corps-regulation-violates-core-right-of-selfdefense.aspx?s=%22Army+Corps+of+Engineers%22&st=&ps=

Anyway, thanks for the explanation.

Kinda implies that you only intend to draw down on an unarmed person.

Been in this discussion too many times before.

I can see why.

I don't "intend" to draw on anyone unless there is a threat to my life or more importantly the lives of my loved ones. The unarmed part is kind of an ignorant statement.

Our first two rules basically cover any local, state or federal laws and regulations regardless of whether or not we list them. The reason for the "call out" of firearms is that most people assume that if they have a carry license that it doesn't apply to them and that's not correct. We want to make sure people see it. We aren't fans of it but it is what it is. Certainly has the added upside of mitigating risk of an incident on the water between competitors or others.

We understand why it's an issue and respect your decision.

I agree 100%

While I am 110% in support of 2nd amendment rights, concealed carry laws and everything that goes along with it.....do you really want to miss out on a great tournament because you are unwilling to leave you gun at home for 2 days? Do you really need that weapon while out on the water fishing? Come on now. That is your choice but don't hate on the rules because you don't like them. Either abide by them or don't play the game.

What if your kid plays a sport at school? Do you not attend those games because of your inability to not turn everything political? Not picking on anyone in particular, I just wonder. I hear a lot of people say that they aren't going to eat a certain place or go a certain place because they don't allow guns. I just wonder how these people can attend any function for their children where guns are not allowed.

And I'm not even close to being against conceal and carry.

Please tell me when I "need" my carry gun that way I'll know to avoid that situation. If you know when you'll need or not need it you either don't get it or you are way wiser than anyone else carrying.

It's a ridiculous rule by Oakley and none of their business if I carry or not. If I can't abide by their rules I won't fish it. I'm not going to weigh in s fish knowing I'm breaking a rule and neither should anyone else.

The law is ridiculous also. Why on earth would a ccw permit holder not be allowed to carry on a boat ramp? I'm trusted to carry at 99% of other locations but not a ramp? Come on!

If someone is bent on killing another at a ramp or anywhere not having a gun won't stop them. Me having a firearm sure puts the odds in my favor though if someone takes a notion to attack me.

It's not a criminal offense to carry at a school in Missouri btw.

I don't visit places that have it posted "no guns" unless it's inevitable, ie hospital, and some liberal doctors offices. Again not a criminal offense in Missouri so.......

Besides most don't have a regulation sized legal sign anyway.
