fishingaddiction Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Good fishing. That's a very nice 7 lb LM, looks like a SK red eye shad stuck in his face? Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
Members ARangler Posted November 22, 2014 Author Members Posted November 22, 2014 Yes it is a red eye shad, same bait I caught my biggest bass ever on a couple years ago
fishinwrench Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 That Red Eye is a killer. On days when I can't put together a shallow dock pattern I just start running down the bank (almost any bank) burning a Red Eye and it never fails to produce some fish. Often they are good ones too. It has something going for it that a Rattle Trap never had. When I first realized the effectiveness of them I ran out and bought 2 handfuls of them expecting that I'd loose or bust them pretty regularly, but that hasn't been the case. They come thru stuff like magic if you just keep them moving, and even when they do hang up a few shakes or line pops almost always gets them free again. The only downside is that you gotta keep the fish from getting air and head shaking, I've lost a bunch of 2-3lbers in the air. Short fish I just let jump and 1/2 the time they'll release themselves. If your partner is throwing square bills and you aren't throwing a RE then you are making a mistake.
