Where is best place to order parts for Nissan outboard?

And how hard is it to replace the Impellor?

Easy to replace, depending on size, iboats.com will have it. If no hurry wait on a free shipping deal.

Impeller replacement is a piece of cake the second time you do it, but if it's your first time you'll probably struggle with the shift linkage and getting everything aligned right when the gearcase goes back on.

You'll need the impeller, a new gasket, and a new water tube grommet.

Since LSK is closed for the Winter your closest bet would be a Sierra aftermarket water pump kit from O'Reillys. Or order online from www.boatparts.net

LSK is open but they are wanting around $500 to put Choke Solenoid and Plunger in, Thermostat and Impellor in. Said two hours on Impellor.

In two hours i think anybody could get it done, a mechanic should be able to knock it out in 30 min. I have a little 18hp Nissan which is probably one of the best lil outboards i have been around. I would guess i have 1,000,000 hours on that little guy lol. Wrench is right Linkage can be a bear but if you take your time when you take it off an pay attention to how it is put together it isnt that bad

They won't charge you 2 hours for a water pump service. Flat rate is 0.8hr on 2-3 cyl. Nissans.

500.00 P&L for everything mentioned is about right. They have to allow for a few broken thermo housing bolts in the estimate, it's inevitable on a Nissan.

It may not need a thermostat replacement though....you won't know until water pressure is up to snuff.

What's the deal with the choke solenoid ? They don't typically go bad. Who diagnosed that issue ?

The Thermostat closed up on the Water, got taken out and throwed away. So I'm sure it needs one :) Choke Solenoid, I figure needs replacing since I have been having to push it in to start.

No don't buy a choke solenoid until you first verify that it is getting voltage to it when you depress the choke switch, and that a bunch of gunk hasn't built up in the plunger barrel. There really isn't anything that can go wrong with the solenoid unless someone crushed it with a hammer, it is just a housed electromagnet.

Makes sense because it wasn't working then it was now it isn't. I'm going to look at it closer.

Ok put Battery on the Engine, hit the Key several times and choke solenoid worked perfect. My Son says looks like it isn't broke so don't fix it. Come to find out he help put the Impeller in it last time, says no problem.

So this is looking better.
