Members jaspy111 Posted December 20, 2014 Members Posted December 20, 2014 Went fishing last weekend to the rock and when I got there I happen to look at my tires while unhooking the boat and looked like the tread was about to fly clean off, so as you can imagine I was worried if I was going to make it back to Nixa before they blew, so my question is , where is the best place to get some trailer tires and what brands seem to be better than others
kdc Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 always liked goodyear marathons walmart around 100 bucks
fishinwrench Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 The longest lasting set I ever had were some fairly cheap Uniroyal's, but nobody in my area sells them anymore. Goodyear's are great if you don't travel on gravel much.
Members jaspy111 Posted December 20, 2014 Author Members Posted December 20, 2014 these are the marathons I have now and tread wear is good , but starting to split
Members fullmoon Posted December 20, 2014 Members Posted December 20, 2014 none of the major brands make trailer tires except goodyear and for the most part there all made in China. Call Economy Tire & Muffler in Ozark they are good guys and know what there doing. Goodyear Marathon is a good tire but at the top of the price range. I haven't had good luck with Hi Run or Carlisle. I've had good luck with Tow Master and Gremax. The Gremax in 15" come in 8 ply and 10 ply. From the picture i could see yours is load range C (6 ply) so it is most likely 14".
Dutch Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 What causes them to split like that? When that has happened to me it has been on my utility and it seems to be age and being in the weather.
grizwilson Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 Call Faughts Nixa 417-725-2866 just replaced marathons with better tire 10 ply were $85 “If a cluttered desk is a sign, of a cluttered mind, of what then, is an empty desk a sign?”- Albert Einstein
Sore Thumbs Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 I was told they no longer make Goodyear Marathons. If you go to a Goodyear store they make a tire with the exact same tread pattern but it's a different brand name. If you get lucky Walmart still has Marathons in stock. I actually laid my eyes on some today. Just not sure they will have the size you need.
Members Golf Pro Posted December 21, 2014 Members Posted December 21, 2014 Call Randy Conlon at Purcell Tire. I wouldn't go anywhere else.
