Smalls21 Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 That's a good deal for a Pro Qualifier, good entry level reel,IMO
abkeenan Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 That's a good deal for a Pro Qualifier, good entry level reel,IMO It's a good real whether an entry fisherman or not. People who are gear snobs will scoff at guys using BPS PQ's but those reels are great performers any way you slice it. You won't find a better reel for $50.
abkeenan Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 PQ's are probably about due for a design change which is the reason why I would think they are trying to sell the crap out of them for $50 to get rid of inventory. Just a hunch.
Bill Babler Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 You might go over to the outlet, there are usually a couple of hundred of them over there for less, that have either been returned or refurbished. Sac River Jim 1 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Quillback Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Dang, they have KVD himself making an appearance!

Just a hunch. Guy I talked to behind the reel counter said they are redesigning in 2016...so good hunch!

I always look over there, and they charge $60 for them, all beat up too. Not a bad deal from March - January, but $50 brand new cant even be beat by the outlet.
Champ188 Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 I just can't imagine how you could get the kind of casting distance required to be consistently successful on Table Rock with a $50 reel. With horizontal presentations --- football jig, jerk bait, Wiggle Wart, swim bait, spinner bait, etc. --- if you aren't casting halfway across the lake, you are simply not catching the fish that you could be. If $50 is all you can afford, that's one thing. You can make it work well enough to catch some fish. But if you're just trying to save money by buying cheap equipment, you are only cheating yourself. Not saying you have to buy a $600 Daiwa Steez or even a $300 Shimano Core. But if you're not at least in the $150 range (list price), you are giving up valuable performance in terms of casting distance. I bought a couple of the top-shelf Johnny Morris Signature Series casting reels a few years back. Absolute junk. So I do have some experience with BPS reels.
Alex Heitman Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 I don't want to get into a heated debate over this but I would recommend doing the reel trade in and getting the top johnny Morris reel. Not the black one but the chrome ones. I have 5 of them I have had for years and they still are some of my favorite reels. They throw a mile almost as far as my lews reels. This is just my opinion by the way.
