Only forum where a slap fight over reels can spawn a simultaneous discussion of coon hunting with terriers and cats playing dress up.

Awesome!

Ands for my money we had best add armadillos to the list of post apocalyptic survivors.

Was thinking the exact same thing. This thread is officially off the rails. I've always heard that if there truly was a nuclear war or apocalypse that cockroaches would most likely be the only things to survive. Don't know if that is truly sound science or not but I've heard that multiple times.

Well Mr. Babler, I will first respond that I thouroughly enjoy your fishing reports and the information that you share here and learn a great deal from your posts and highly respect you for that. Next, I too can respond as a smart butt and in a condescending way just as you do to someone who doesn't agree with your opinions on here. So here goes.

First, you felt compelled to respond to my offer to purchase the reels from Champ, saying that I tried to make him look foolish. Thank you so much for explaining to me what my intentions were. I thought my private messages back and forth to Champ discussing the price and condition of the reels was that, private. Evidently not. Champ sent me pictures of the reels and they had quite a bit of boat rash. I told him it was a fair offer but that I wasn't interested with the amount of boat rash they had. I will be happy to post those private messages for the world to see if needed. Champ thanked me for the offer and it ended at that. I didn't know private messages back and forth discussing a transaction were visible by you. But thanks for clearing up to me what my intentions were, as you do know everything.

If you scroll back, you were the one that felt compelled to respond to my original post to Champ offering to buy the reels and the statement about Edwin Evers and Pro Qualifiers. Yes, all pro anglers get paid to use their equipment. Would you have felt compelled to respond if it was a Lews reel and Jason Chrisite seems to like his just fine? I highly doubt that you would have come back with yeah but he gets paid $50,000 to say that. I know you don't see it this way, but you constantly promote the brands that you use and feel compelled to cut down other brands as no one has the level of experience and know how that you have. No, you do not get paid a monetary compensation from those companies, but you are on their pro staff and purchase the merchandise at a decent discount. More than the average person who visits this board can get. You are doing exactly what a pro staff member is supposed to do, promote your brands because you believe in them. What bothers me is when you feel compelled to respond negatively to another brand, especially when your Bass Pro radar goes off. Nothing turns me off more than a salesman cutting down another brand.

I am no Bill Babler. I have probably 10 different rod and reel brands, with Pro Qualifier being my low end and Shimano Metanium my high end. I would love to be able to purchase all Shimano Metaniums to use, but I am not on a pro staff and couldn't afford to spend $400 on every reel I purchase. Do I compare the Shimano with the Pro Qualifier, absolutely not. But does the PQ serve its purpose for me and is it a great value, absolutely. Do I feel compelled to respond to every post about a reel that you should save your money up and buy a Shimano Metanium, no way.

I am sorry that I have only posted 4 times with no contributions on here. I didn't see it in the rules that you couldn't offer to purchase a reel from someone unless you have posted 100 fishing reports.

Having you as an unbiased board monitor on here is kind of like having Tom Brady monitoring the inflation of the Super Bowl footballs.

How did I do? Enjoy your board sir!

Champ, we have a cat that looks like a twin yours. She definitely isn't the "brightest", but she is a sweety and very entertaining to watch play around. One day out of the blue, she just showed up as a kitten on our back porch so we took her in. I never thought I would see the day that my fiance would become attached to a cat enough to make them a house cat.

Yadi (named off the Cardinals catcher of course!) on the left who is an inside/outside cat and Fiona on the right. She is a full time house cat, but we let her out to play around when it's nice out.

My fiance likes to dress her up at times and Fiona isn't a fan lol. :secret-laugh:

Good stuff, Seth. Hats off to you for taking in rescue cats. Donna and I have six full-time housecats, all rescues. You're a good fella.

Dude the truth in those pics is that you are baiting them just so you can dress them up. THATS SICK! JUST SICK!!!

To borrow the punchline from a recent Cox TV ad: "Can't get this with satellite!"

Like to think I can turn a phrase, although I struggle to turn the occasional door knob.

It's nothing compared to our dachshund. She practically needs her own dresser or closet for all of her outfits. She doesn't mind dressing up though. The only problem with her outfits is that she is getting too fat to wear a lot of them lol.

To clarify, being moderator here does not give Bill access to anyone's private messages but his own. Fishdoctor, I told Bill (completely outside of the forum) that I had offered you the reels, the price I offered them for and that you declined. I did so in case he knew someone else that might be interested. Bill formed and voiced his opinion from there.

Unlike our modern-day kum-ba-yah society, OAF posters are entitled to have their opinions and voice them. If they happen to be contrary to someone else's convictions --- which is the case 99% of the time --- it doesn't make anyone a hater/criminal. I've fished with Bill and he has no personal vendetta against any one gear maker or retailer. He simply insists on top-shelf equipment, and who can blame him since he makes his living with it? A professional auto mechanic doesn't use bargain-bin handtools.

The fact that someone doesn't like a product and says as much is not reason to take offense, label them a hater (happens too often here, if not this time) or anything of the sort. Heck, someone speaking negative about a product just might save me some money/frustration. I'll take the bad AND the good info anytime.
